You can buy the antenna now and the HDTV later.
Of course, your TV will only receive the old analog channels for now.

Check www.antennaweb.org to see how far you are from the stations and what min gain your antenna should have to receive the stations you need.

You can buy ANY antenna out there to recieve ANY signal.....

I use my old Analog Tabletop TV antenna and it works just like it did with my old Analog TV.....
The Digital Terrestrial antennas provide the same reception as the older ones do.....

You have to remember the frequencies of TV stations have not changed, just the type of transmission has.....Antennas are tuned to frequency, not TYPE.

In fact, most YAGI or 8-Bay Bowtie antennas will have the BEST gain.

Yagi has better directionality over the 8-Bay and is used when ALL your stations are located in a 15 degree wide "reception area".....it minimizes ghosting (yes the digital signal does bounce, even when the digital signal does not show ghosts)

The 8 Bay gets signal from all directions and does have MORE "Ghosting"....they call this "image rejection" or "Multipath signal" in VARIOUS camps......I still use the term "Ghosting" because people UNDERSTAND what ghosting is and what it does to the signal quality.....Too much ghosting and you lose your Digital signal !!

Unfortunately it won't. I suggest buy a 720P HDTV a little bit later when it gets cheaper. To have full function of your tv station, you need a TV that's compatible with it. For example, the PS3 has the accessibility of 1080P picture but it requires a Full HDTV to have that picture. Therefore, your HDTV Antenna will only show a regular display of TV because ur TV isn't good enough to display it.

You have to have an HDTV. Contact your cable provider to have them enable HDTV capabilities for you.
That is if your cable provider provides that particular service.
I'd check first before buying the TV though.
