I installed new Boston Acoustic speakers in my Civic in the back, and they sound horrible. The factory speakers were much better - better clarity, louder, more bass. Did I do something wrong?

FYI - I'm using the stock receiver.

factory stereos are designed for that car.if you up grade your speakers the factory stereo now does not have what it takes to drive the speakers properly.fix......add a small amp or upgrade to a aftermarket deck.no matter what you new speakers will sound like sh@@%$@%@5 till you do.

Some Boston Acoustics speakers have a 3Ohm impedance (check your manual). Most speakers are 4Ohm.
This means your stock HU is being pushed WAY too far and it distorting.
Your radio needs to be replaced with an aftermarket one. Or you could simply get a 50wrms x 2@4Ohm 2channel amp for them.
Good Luck!
