I have a friend who at times has problems breathing, and heart palpitations. Lately she is fatigued; she has had headaches since she was 6 years old (she is 19 now), and also has insomnia. Normal OTC painkillers don't work on the headaches. About four days ago she fell asleep twice while talking to me online - once during the day, and once at night. Shortly after this, she passed out and didn't come around until the next afternoon. Can anyone PLEASE tell me what might be wrong? Is there any mild condition, or combination of them, that could cause this and do NOT need a doctor's care? Please help.

The problem is that she doesn't have enough money, or time, even to go to the emergency room. That's why I'm here. Please help. Also - yes, she *is* under a lot of stress, almost constantly. And there's no way for her to take a vacation from the stress - it is her LIFE.

Maybe it is the stress that is causing all these issues?

It sounds like maybe a massage or 2 on a regular basis maybe a good investment? I had bad stress attacks a few yrs ago & from that gathered that massage every 2-3 wks was a necessity.

Plus, take a good hard look at your life, there are thing that can be changed & they are going to be hard to change & take time to change, not overnight changes!

For me, it was a group of "friends" but now that I'm not around them all the time, and have met some other ppl and have gotten involved in some other activities, my life has overall improved.

Tell her to give it 6 wks or so. If she really is ill though, it maybe best to just take her to a non for profit clinic? If u have any? Look into that through a local pharmacy or by calling around to social services deptmartments & such.

Lack of sleep can cause all sorts of issues with the body. Stress could be a large factor also. Does she have a stressful job, problems at home, or problems with school. If so a vacation from the problem may help. I also suggest she see a doctor. Cancer and various other disease can cause these problems.

Also what are the chances of an advanced STD. Not trying to be too personal but that may be an issue also.

Is there any mild condition, or combination of them, that could cause this and do NOT need a doctor's care? Please help.....NO. Passing out is a sign that she's not getting enough oxygen to the brain and that is SERIOUS. If you're her friend, get her to a doctor ASAP. If she can't afford it, go to the emergency room as they will not turn her away. Chest pain and breathing difficulties are life threatening, especially with headaches.

she needs to see a doctor, soon. could be sleep apnea in which she needs to see a doctor to see how bad it is, or she can use the nose strips that are available otc, and now even oral medication. shes just not getting enough sleep, that's why she falls asleep while talking on the phone.

Your friend should see a doctor immediately. She could be experiencing any number of problems, like seizures or arrhythmia in the heart. I suffered from intensely painful headaches for about three months, every day, and my doctor discovered I had a seizure disorder. It can be very serious--tell her to go to the doctor now!

i agree with the first to answers.
i would add that you go to a mayo clinic in rochester, john hopkins univ or the medical at the biggest university in you state. why are you so hesitant to see a dr.? if not a doctor then have her see one of those "final arrangement" bandits.
it's one or the other.
