The age that girls usually stop growing is around 17 yrs of age. It begins to taper off around 16 and finish off at around 17.
Boys on the other hand begin growing spurt sometimes at12 yrs of age and continue growing sometimes until they are 18, 19, or 20 yrs old.
The avg height for a 14 yr old boy varies greatly depending on who has begun their growth spurt and took off with it or who has barely began or those who just haven't began their growth yet.

Growth varies from person to person. Usually major growth spurts stop around ages 14-17, but you can continue growing well into your twenties.

90% of 14 year old boys (of any race) will be between 5' and 5'10"

growth depends on your pituitary gland which secretes the growth hormone. For most girls growth slows or stops when puberty starts ( menstrual cycle begins)

I know this information because I have a son with growth issues due to being born with kabuki syndrome. We had his glad tested. He may need growth hormone supplements but if growth hormone is to be administered, it has to be given before puberty starts or it won't work.Something happens int he human body when puberty starts to slow the growth process and the ability for growth hormone to continue to make the person grow. The age of puberty in every child varies form child to child. There are some case where growth contunues past the beginning of puberty...not sure why just as I am not sure why my 6 year old son's gland is producing enough growth hormone and yet he is still shorter than his 4 year old sister.
