I have two questions about shopping for a sleeping bag.

1. Could someone recommend a solid, good quality, not too expensive bag? I'm anticipating a few low-impact camping trips this summer and fall (wouldn't need anything for winter), and I'd like to know which brands and models you think are good. I guess I'm looking for something that won't break the bank, but also won't fall apart on me either.

2. I'm exactly six feet tall. Should I go for long or regular size? Any tips?

Thanks!

Coleman brand, as mentioned above, are great bags! WalMart, Target and KMart carry them, as does Sears.

If you're camping in the summer, you might want a bag rated into the 20s, then you won't be cold. You can always put a blanket or sheet IN the bag before you roll it so you have it if you need it. That way if it is hot you can lay on top of the bag with the blanket or sheet and if it's cold it adds extra warmth without extra bulk to carry.

I would go for long, you are better off having MORE bag than not enough!!!

Good luck!

Big Lots has "Coleman Brand" (same as the tents, lanterns, etc.) sleeping bags for $20 bucks. These are size large and are rated to 30 degrees. These are great fair weather / warm weather bags. And it is hard to beat the price.

Personally I have 3 different bags. One German jacket/bag rated to -20, one older "Coleman" bag rated to 30 and one old style US Military mummy bag rated to -40. One for all seasons.

Wal-Mart also have a good selection.

go to cabela's, rei, or bass pro. if too expensive try wallyworld. go for long size and do not get a down, as in goosedown, sleeping bag. get one with light loft, etc.
