I have a really great friend, and she and I have been friends for years. You couldn't ask for a better friend. However, when I like a guy, they tend to like her instead. In fact, most of the guy friends I have, I have because they had a crush on her and ended up meeting, and becoming friends with, me in the process. I told myself that they like her for the same reason that we're friends, and if I enjoy her company I'll get over it and realize that our friendship is above all this guy stuff. It's not like she's mean, she's very mature about all of it ( she never returns their advances, and makes it clear that she's not into them like that). For a while I did really well, and when we went out, I enjoyd her company and just settled on the fact that I could get guys later. However, a guy I liked showed up one night when we were hanging out and made it quite clear that he was there for her. I was mad, she kept asking if I was OK...I don't know how to be better about all this?

I'm sorry to hear about your sucky situation, but you seem to be handling it in a very mature way. First, is there something specific about your friend that you think could be drawing guys in? Obviously, if she is drop-dead gorgeous, that's going to make guys like her, but is there anything else you notice? Maybe she's really confident or talks to guys in a certain way. I hate that you have to experience such a bad situation, but use it as a valuable learning tool. Observe how your friend interacts with guys and try to incorporate some of that into your life and future relationships. I am not saying you should try to be LIKE her, just learn from her.

Good luck!

This also has happened to me... with my cousin.. I think that you and I are special persons... and somewhere in this world there is somebody who loves us!!.. we just need to wait and hopefully it would happen!!.. do not be impatient and if a guy likes your friend just dont worry about it.. but tell your bestfriend how you feel, I am sure she will understand you .. good luck
