Borax powder is NOT to be applied directly to the skin, it is an acidic detergent and is not a flea preparation or something that helps wounds in any way. The contraindications for this product also specifically say to keep AWAY from pets:

Much better to find out the source of the scratching, which is most likely fleas, or even flea allergic dermatitis. You should get some flea treatment from your vet - don't bother with anything from a petshop, it's about as useful as Borax powder and sometimes as harmful. Get some Frontline. As for the wounds, you can use Sudocrem or something similar to GENTLY soothe them until you can get her to a vet.

Please don't put Borax on the cat. Or anything that you might put on a human wound.. Cats will only kick it off and it might hurt it or kill it.

You have got to find out WHY the cat is scratching all of the time.
1. Is it fleas?...If so get powder, a collar or something to get rid of fleas.
2. Is it a rash?.. If so you need to know what caused..Allergy etc.
3. Is the cat kept in a small area indoors?.. Most people don't realize that sometimes a cat can start over cleaning just because they are bored and that's the only cat thing they can do with their time.....So If she is an indoor cat be sure there are plenty of things to climb on and play with during the day...It will forger abut over cleaning.

Good grief no! Borax? Never! You have to find the cause of the scratching! Vet time for sure! The borax will not heal a wound. Kitty could have any one of a number of problems starting with fleas. Get to a vet and forget about borax as a self-help medication. Remember cats lick to clean themselves and you don't want them to ingest that s**t into their system!!!!!!!!!

Supposedly you can sprinkle borax powder around when you have fleas, under the couch, on the pet's bed etc. But putting it on because she is scratching.. I wouldn't put it directly on the cat herself. I don't think it would help wounds... It kills fleas..
Borax powder releases Boric Acid, which is a poison... Apparently one would have to ingest quite a bit to have it be a problem, but I wouldn't take the chance... Would never put it right on the pet...

Borax should NEVER be directly applied to an animal!!

Do not put it on her skin .

Call the vet the ointments are so inexpensive.

NO! It's like acid and will burn her flesh! Ans she will poision herself trying to lick it off!

Ask the vet for the correct powder, or visit the pet shop to see if they have anything!

Stick borax in your own cut and see how much it burns if you don't believe me. Thats animal cruelty!

Borax can be used to kill household pests such as cockroaches and ants... It sounds like you cat has a skin condition or allergy. Talk to your vet or change your cat food before you try the borax trick!

If your friend is a vet, yes.

If your friend is not a vet, no.

If your telephone works, call a vet.
