How hot is it where you are?
If you are absolutely sure it was only 6 hours, it is fine. However, do not put it back to the fridge if there are leftovers. Throw the rest out.
It is a common misconception that garlic will stop bacteria from growing, being a natural antibiotic.
However, there has been documented evidence that garlic paste left out in the counter of a busy restaurant caused several people who have eaten there to come down with food poisoning. The staff just never had the chance to return the container to the fridge, being so busy. That kitchen was hot(naturally)

Taste a little bit of it - if it's kind of tangy or the flavor has changed, it's probably gone bad. If not, it should be fine. Hummus doesn't really have a lot of things in it that go bad quickly.

No, it isn't. Hummus is made with yogurt so if you leave it out for that long, it will make you sick.
