You can make the most impact in your community doing things that you like to do. Your volunteer center can help you find specific community projects and non-profit agencies in your local area to help you make an impact in your community.

Through my volunteer center, I tutor children at the library, enrich arts and culture by helping visitors at the local museum, work at the local food bank, children's shelter, and clean our neighborhoods, parks, and beaches. There's a lot more different projects that your volunteer center can help you find in your local area.

Good luck!

SERIOUSLY: Find several SMALL local newspapers (local to your, or another, neighborhood). READ THEM!

You will find many, many community efforts, all of which are in need of your assistance.

From saving a school, to saving a person who is homebound, to teaching a class, to attending a lecture/performance as a 'volunteer' usher. You will find ways to get REALLY involved.

Always try the 'neighborhood council', 'community council', etc. , in a neighborhood near you that is 'under class' in some way.

Working in the senior garden center, or the city library. I volunteer at a treatment center for young women.
Go to the united way website and they will hook you up with all kinds of places.
