It was the moment the guy I was dating (now my husband) answered my question "Is this Jesus guy the real thing, He can't be the only way to heaven and how do we know there is a heaven." October 16, 2001. I made a couple of other statements... I had come from lack of belief in God,"what ya see is what there is sort of thinking." to at least acknowledging the slim possibility of something greater than ourselves, who was to some degree interested in our welfare, by that day.
So when I asked him the Jesus question his reply was. "Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me." I was utterly floored, and at that moment, I knew I had been wrong, wrong wrong all those years.
I called his pastor, set up an appointment that afternoon, and publicly gave myself to Jesus!
The wisest thing I heard was that the moment I would walk out the door, Satan would try to convince me that what had taken place wasn't the real thing and that I was just to stand my ground and say... "It is absolutely the most true thing."
I count that as the best decision and best day of my entire life.
That will be until the day when I see Jesus coming for His people.

Thats a great question Alexandrite.

The moment I became a Christian occurred when I knew in my heart that I was a sinner and that I had a debt that I couldn't pay.

I knew that I could never make it to Heaven on my own, and I believed that Jesus Died on the cross to pay for my sins.

Here are some versus from the Bible.

Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

(None of us could make it to Heaven, because of our sin)

John 3:16 - For God so Loved the world that he gave his only Son, whoever believes in him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Many people think that by being good, they will get to Heaven.

Tit 3:5 not by works done in righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

I think its great that you are searching. The Bible says Seek and you shall find.

My family was at a drama called Heavens Gates and Hells Flames, September 14, 1994. We were on the fourth row I sat along the isle, my son in my lap, my daughter was in my wife's lap beside me. I realized I needed to change when I saw father and son scene, then the construction scene. I prayed with Butch the construction worker, and again with my wife an both our children, along with about 20 other people.

I listened to family radio for about 2 - 3 months hearing the word of God on how we all are sinners destine to hell for ours sins , and of Gods infinate love for us for a free way out of hell through his salvation Plan by his son Jesus. The forgiveness of our sins through his son Jesus if we ask him from our heart , to be our savior. He then would bear the burden or payment for that sin . I prayed for his mercy and ask if Jesus would be my savior .I felt happy and warm knowing I would never see hell at anytime.

It was great. I had walked away from God, and I found my way a back. It was gradual move toward God rather than moment though. Spiritual maturity takes time, I am still learning.: )
