My husband is having to replace the front wheel bearing on our 1998 ford windstar the manual reads that the hub nut needs to be replaced, however we have not recieved this part. Is it ok to reuse the old hub nut or do we need to wait for the new hub nut? Thanks

I hate to argue with the other person but buy a new nut, you can get it from ford. Here is why, it has to have high tork on the nut to keep the bearing aligned in the hole and in the spindle, and when it is torqued down to 225 pounds you have to stake the nut to keep it from coming loose. if it happens to line up at the same place the nut will not stay tight causing damage to the wheel bearing or half shaft, (AXLE) and could allow the bearing to move back and forth in the bearing hole causing damage to the spindle. Or to the roter and caliper to overheat. Hope this helps.

First of all you do not have to replace this nut. The old one is fine. What size is the nut?

I have many times used the old nut when putting the assembly back together and never had any come backs.

If you don't have the new one then the old one is a lot better than no nut at all. I don't think it makes any difference.
