Other than throwing a bunch of yellow dye in it and calling it yellow tide; not much. A good start would be tell people to stop using pestisides and fertilizers on their most precious lawns. Good luck with convincing them.

Red tide is a naturally occurring ecological event and the gradual rise in sea water temperature also influences growth. While it kills fish and other marine organisms, perhaps it's best to not tamper with nature by introducing more chemicals into the ecosystem.

Leave it alone. A red tide rarely causes more than a day or two's disrupution of human endeavors, and our understanding of them is sorely limited. Red tides have been a part of our ecosystem for eons Disrupting them may well have disasterous unintended effects.

I've heard of a new medicine that will reduce the red tide from one week to just a couple days. See your gynocoligist for details.
