I've heard of themed restaurants where it's set up as a mock wedding reception (eg) & guests have to blend in

Has anyone heard of this kind of function - was hoping to organise it for a 30th bday party.

In the US we have a play called Tony and Tina's Wedding. You mingle with the wedding party, go to the mass, and then go to a big reception. This is probably the closest I have seen to what you are looking for.
