I have no proof that god exists, therefore I choose not to believe.

I think my problem is that I don't believe. I mean whether God exists or not is not that big of an issue for me. I don't believe God exists and am basically very sure God(s) do not exist. Every argument I have ever come across for Gods being real has been total garbage.
Whatever. I am far more concerned with what is good for my society and the people I care about. Having a Church dominated Super Power is a horrible thing to contemplate. The effects on Europe and the incredible progress made in all areas of human living since the collapse of the Church State is dramatic evidence of the Evils of Religion as Politics.
I understand what ZClifton is saying. Getting smacked by a speeding Semi Truck has a similar effect.

When it comes to Faith, all the believing in the world is just not going to hold up when you are knocked completely off your fight path and you slam into a redwood tree or some like that. No, what you have at that moment is complete trauma, you go out of your mind at that point, and then you try and put the pieces back together, but they don't go together like they did before.
So you are left in a alien place. You do not belong anymore. You do not understand anymore and you do not remember the value of words like God, home, country or even mother's milk.
You are disconnected from reality at that moment of crisis, and some never come back to reality.
If you are one of the lucky ones, you come back, but you get lost again many times. You have to work on justifying and accepting the contradictions of life. Then you can find a new peace of mind, but it no longer has the quality like an insurance policy. You are forever made aware that at any moment of your life or the life of a loved one, some or all can be smashed.
"It takes a train to cry!"

Are you also asking what my point of view is? I have been arguing with myself on this one since making a decision at the age of 15 to leave the church, but not having a need to disassociate myself from God. After 13 years of emotional turmoil, and religious "unlearning", Ive only recently accepted that if it is God that I have faith in, that faith can exist without the dogmatic and closed minded and frightening world of religion that I was raised by. I dont feel that the answer you seek will be a concise one, and I love to talk about this topic with others who are asking the same questions, or maybe have something to share. Feel free to contact me regarding this topic.

I justify it in that I was raised in a Catholic house, have attended (actually attended not just showed up once or twice) in Baptist, Episcopal (Catholic lite), and Methodist Churches.
They all tell you the same thing, yet tell you the "other" guy is wrong. I justify it in that Religion is an interpretation of an idea, and I as a human can interpret God how I choose since God DID give me a brain. While God may have rules, it's okay to live by his rules, AND okay to talk against people who tell you their ideas of his rules is the only way to live.

I find I cant completely justify myself and that drives me crazy. So I keep searching. I suppose that is a good side effect of doubt.
If the facts about God were given, and in a provable undeniable manner there would be no need for faith, no need for searching.
We would know exactly what we should do. Decisions would be black and white and our character would only be rebellious or compliant. Somewhat boring. We would miss all these shades of grey we live in. Perhaps our complexity while sometimes perplexing, is a gift of God to us.

stable question, you're no longer the 1st to ask your self approximately this, that's been contemplated in all likelihood via fact the beginning up. i don't have large answer, yet i visit attempt to respond to besides. i will grant you some books that bypass into this subject rely in case you wish. God has created all issues yet would not unavoidably create evil, He enables it. all of us comprehend from activity that God allowed devil to kill activity's relatives and eliminate all his possessions. God did no longer do it, yet he allowed it. You anticipate that God enables the evil and that evil is often undesirable. Joseph replaced into consistently dealing with issue and yet God used the evil for stable as reported interior the previous testomony. there are various that assist you to comprehend that by the undesirable circumstances they felt closest to God (John Piper, Joni Eareckson Tada). If God have been to make each little thing for us stable, we could truthfully turn from God. If we had each little thing, we could experience we did no longer want something, even God. God can use the undesirable for stable and does. The Bible states we've been created to glorify God. that's a confusing theory to hold close, and extra durable to describe in this submit yet yet real. i think of that maximum individuals easily comprehend that there must be some form of God, the question is what God is right. As for a crutch, no longer so. Christianity is easily confusing to stay with, no longer an common crutch. If i wanted the easy way i could deny God via fact then i does no longer be to blame and ought to do what i choose for without effect and loss of life ought to negate each little thing. save asking and you will locate solutions.

Your question assumes that humans can independently justify their points of view. I affirm that our points of view are justified based on whether or not they align with Scripture. Thus, man is not the measure of all things, but rather, God is the measure of all things.

I don't justify it to anyone. The way I believe is whats right for me. Beliefs are opinions. Opinions are neither right or wrong, they just are. More people need to be willing to accept that fact.

In a somewhat nihilistic or solipsistic viewpoint, all I can know for sure about my origins would be the fact that I popped into this life out of nowhere. It's more miraculous than evolutionary.
