it could be several things but the main ones are -

1. a skin tag
2. a cyst
3. a tumour - cancerous or not
4. an infection (pus filled thing)

Most of the time it will be harmless. But if you are unsure what it is you need to take him to a vet, who will then do a biopsy if it looks suspicious.

Well, it could be a fatty tumor, it could be a cancerous tumor or it could be a cyst. The fact it's grown in size isn't a good sign. I'd definitely get it checked by a vet. They'll needle it, draw out what they can from it and check it on a slide to see if it has primarily fat cells in it, etc. If it doesn't look like a fatty tumor, they'll continue to test. You need to get it checked out NOW, though. Not next week or next month but as soon as possible. The sooner you get this stuff checked out, the better. Not only can you track it's progress better but you'll also have a better chance of it being treatable.

I would suggest like everyone else to take your doggy to the vet to have it looked at.

A lot of times dogs develop lumps/bumps, but the fact that it has grown in size indicates that this is something you want to look at now.

When you get to the vet's office, explain the problem and ask if he can examine some of the cells from the growth to determine whether it needs to be removed. Some of these bumps may need to be removed, some of them may not.

This may just be a lipoma or fatty cell build up under the dog's skin, but it may be something else (there are quite a few possibilities here believe it or not).

If your veterinarian is unsure of the bump, ask to be referred to a veterinary pathologist who specializes in this sort of thing.

Just remember to not panic and to take him to the vet.

I had a similar problem with my dog as he got older, and I remember how much I freaked out about it before I took him to the vet.

Good luck!

For a 4 year old, cancer is unlikely, the more likely causes are lipoma which are benign fat mass, it is unlikely to be abscess, because abscess usually form within 24-48 hours, and usually burst and start draining about a week or 10 days time. the fact that it is growing and relatively slow, it can be something like a fibroma or something like a wart. but it is difficult to tell you what is it until you can give more description of the mass, like firm/soft? fluid filled? reddness? warm? irritating? and where are is the mass? so vet is the best option for you if you are worried, but most likely nothing really serious.

It sounds like a common growth that probably needs to be removed, as some of those become canerous.
Here are the descriptions and discussions of a dozen types of cysts and tumors. You may find it of help> http://www.vetinfo4dogs.com/dlumps.html
Your bet will be able to evaluate your dog and tell you if it needs to be removed, or if it is worth the risks.
My own dog had a growth that sounds similar that was removed last year.

Hi, I used to have a Rottie and knowing large dog breeds mostly have Hip problems and that your dog jumps off the couch and things he might have hip problems and that might be why he is limping. Take your dog to the vet and ask about hip problems maybe have them x-ray the leg. Good luck hope your dog gets better

It could be a tick, a mole, a tumor. My advice is for u to take it to the vet, if it is a tick they will removed, if it is a mole they will tell y to live it alone, and in the worst case scenario if it is a tumor it can be removed if it is detected early.
Good luck, I hope it is a tick because it is the easiest to treat

It sounds like it might be a cyst or a tumor, This does not mean cancer there are different kinds but you should have it looked at by your vet.

It might be a tumour. It might be Cancer. It might be a cyst. I suggest you go to the doctor right away to operate. Ask for X-ray and a blood test. Take action as soon as you can before its too late.

My dog has about 5 or 6. She is a Collie/German Shepherd. At least we think. Haha. But we took her to the vet, and they said it is just a fat deposit. It isnt anything to worry about. If it was something to be worried about, the dog would be itching at it or whining. If you are concerned about it, take him to the vet. But it isnt harmful.
