I'm doing a research paper and require the Christian view of Genetic Modification (GM) of food. This needs to include quotes and information on the source. I understand just saying Christian leaves it open to many different views, it doesn't worry me whether it be an Anglican, Catholic, Protestant etc view. Just as long as it's a view generally regarded as that Church's view.

Catholics have not condemned genetic engineered foods but they also have not blessed them. There is just not enough known to make a mature decision:

Vatican urges further study of genetically engineered food

The National Catholic Rural Life Conference calls for a moratorium on the commercial use of genetically engineered crops until improved assessment, food labeling and greater precautions are in place. http://www.ncrlc.com/plant_biotechnology.html

With love in Christ.

It shouldn't be prohibited because it's been done for thousands of years, just not in such an advanced manner as today.

Grafting, cross-pollinating, and other agricultural techniques are genetic modifications.

If there is a problem, it must be with technology, not with the principle.

But I'm not a Christian.
