Hi!
Well..in reality..it is *suppose* to be removed after 7 years.
However...such is not always the case. I just had to file a investigation with the two bureaus with the mistake..and I fully expect it will be removed. Some have dates..some don't.

The seven year rule applies, though....as long as you have not made payment arrangements and/or sent them a payment on the account.

Some try to play games..you just have to file a investigation if necessary.

Collection attempts can be made long after the record is off the credit report..just realize that. It is off the report..and if your state's debt statute of limitation rule has run out..they can't sue you..but may threaten to do so.

in case you renowned a debt (i.e telephone the debt amassing company) it's going to be yet another 6 years to attend til it is going statute ! you're ultimate to ignore approximately them and not respond. in simple terms, ensure you alter your economic company account. I think that it gets removed after seven years, but it is just the right thing to do to pay your bills. Don't wait until it is off your credit report, do the honorable thing and pay for what you took. When people refuse to pay for a service or a product it only raises the cost of the service or product for the rest of us. That is wrong. Keep your spending in check so that you can keep up with the bills you accrue.

listen to gigi ...a.k.a. the little vioce in the back of your head.

but if you don't listen then the answer is yes it goes away after 7 years because it is charged off by the creditor who can no longer report it to the credit bureaus. this does not mean the company can't keep records, it just means they can not report it, they can however share that info with anyone who asks for as long as they are in business.
