Just because a person does not believe in god does not mean that they are pothead, that drink and have sex, deceive and all that other stuff you put down. People believe in god because they are trained to believe in god. If its one thing people teach each other is to be a leader not a follower. You say that their is proof that god exists, I say that is a huge lie, Their is no proof that god exists. Reality is not, angels flying around in the air and an invisible person listening to the sins of the religious. What you call proof is a book written by many HUMANS that wrote down what they thought or saw, or thought they saw. The rest was made up by the church to ensure that they remained in power, What ever shed bad light, the church discarded. Most people use god as a crutch, they believe god will fix "it". And that simply is not true, I dont mind people who have faith, some people need it, and some people dont. Besides, do you know how many murders were committed in the name of "god". The biggest hypocrites ive ever met have all been very religious, Point is, god is not for every one, and not all atheist are crazy drunks without a soul.

Which God though? I already do believe in some Gods, just not yours buddy.
Chronic alcoholic, sex chasing, lying, deceiving lifestyle? I beg your pardon? What makes you think just because someone doesn't believe in your god that they are an alcoholic nymphomaniac conman? Or that they don't have morals or that they aren't a good person? Hel, some of the most moral folk I've met have been Atheists!
I don't need your gods love. I think that's pretty sad that you think having someone to love you is a good reason to believe in a god. I could say I believe in magic puppies just so I have someone to love me and I won't be alone, but that would be silly for more than one reason. I'd rather have real people in my life offer me friendship and love than conjure it up in my mind.
No I don't want to live forever, that would be a fate worse than death. If your petty god sends people to an eternity of torture simply for having an honest difference of opinion than I would rather burn in hell.

You've answered the question for me.
I refuse to believe in God because the kind of people who believe in God, yourself, a fine example, are bearers of false witness.
And I quote you - "your chronic, alcoholic sex chasing, lying, decieving, lifestyle n actually follow moral rules to be a good person".
Lies. Falsehoods. Slanders.
How dare You judge me in this way. How dare you say those things about Me.
You are shameful. T call me, to my face, an alcoholic, a sex chaser, a liar, a deceiver, and immoral.
You are the reason people flee from "Christianity". You paint such a dirty picture of your faith.
You might not cast stones, but you certainly sling mud.

whoa now! i think a lot of people in church live immoral lifestyles. isn't it a sin to judge people? anyways, a lot of atheist i know are home bodies including myself. We are in serious relationships or married. we don't go around lying and deceiving people because it's wrong. There is a very small percentage of the USA that has atheist. the majority of it are made up of christians so maybe you should do some thinking. I used to believe in god, but going to a church where people thought that they were better than me and they were the ones lying, stealing, judging, backstabbing, having sex before marriage and I decided why continue to live a christians lifestyle when people in the higher ups weren't. I see that some christians are rude and I don't wish to associate myself with that. IF there was a hell i personally would rather go there than go to heaven. :) I certainly don't think that there was. If there really was a god i think that he should sit you down and tell you to act more godly and loving.

OMG, not Pascal's wager AGAIN! weird, I'm not alcoholic, sex-chasing, a liar, a deceiver, and I follow very moral rules and am a good person - which, your question indicates, you are not - do you really think God will be pleased with you for being insulting and judgemental like this? After all, the pharisees were the one group Jesus really despised, for all the reasons you display in this question. You need to do some serious soul-searching if you want to get into your "heaven", you are on the wide path right now...
Good luck!

1.) You CANNOT make yourself believe something, 'just in case'. It either makes sense to you, or it doesn't. Your god is not believable to me. I can't gulp down the ridiculous stories and customs my whole life just in case there is a hell. I have no reason to believe there is a hell, so I have no reason to worry about going to it.
2.) Morals are not a Christian invention! Good people are good for -real- reasons. Are you saying that if you found out there wasn't a god, you'd run around lying and deceiving? I should hope not, because then you'd be a horrible person.
3.) I have peace, I have people who love me. I don't need a mythological creature to give me love. Thanks though.
4.) Please, give me some evidence. Other than "Look around, the world is booootifullll!!"

I did believe, but it was dishonest to do so. Can you make yourself believe in a unicorn friend? I mean, how cool would that be? It would behoove you to believe in a unicorn friend, but I bet you can't bring yourself to do so. Same thing with God.
Really, your question is fraught with fallacies and misconceptions. You accuse nonbelievers of being lazy; yet you have displayed a great deal of laziness by not researching your question first. Where to begin?
"what do u hav 2 lose 2 believe in god?"
This is the premise of Pascal's Wager. It has been debunked quite a bit. As I mentioned before, you cannot just force belief. And if you can, then what kind of belief is it? It's a belief based on deception and ulterior motives. Would God prefer an honest atheist or a deceptive Christian? Who would you trust more?
Also, it supposes that Christianity is the only religion making this claim. It's not. You have hundreds of other religions that you need to consider. For that matter, there are an infinite number of nonreligions. Sure, no one really believes that there is a beer volcano in the afterlife, but how can you know that? It'd behoove you to believe.
"giving up your chronic, alcoholic sex chasing, lying, decieving, lifestyle"
This implies that all nonbelievers are alcoholic, sex-crazed, and deceptive. Do I really need to point out that believing in God does not stop these behaviors? I know plenty of Christians and other theists who are promiscuous, alcoholic, and dishonest.
"actually follow moral rules to be a good person"
More deception on your part. Many nonbelievers are good people. I know plenty of believers and nonbelievers alike who help others and aid in charities. You imply that Christianity has a monopoly on morality. All it takes is a quick look around to see just how wrong you are.
In fact, some of these "moral" Christians are moral only because they are afraid of being punished. Is that really morality? Who is more moral; the man who does not pickpocket a drunk person because a cop is watching or the man who does not pickpocket a drunk person because it wouldn't be fair?
Really, those people who claim that people would be immoral without God are immoral themselves. They cannot conceive of a person who is moral on his own with no divine intervention. Such people are frightening, because they cling to the hope of God as the only way to prevent themselves from being immoral.
"if you believe in god you feel a sense of peace"
I'll chalk this up to youthful ignorance. You probably haven't lived a long enough life to know just how false this is. I believed in God. I felt anything but peace. I felt guilty all the time. I was also devastated when my father died, and I thought he was going to Hell. I am more at peace as an atheist than I ever was as a Christian. The more people you meet, the more you'll see this.
"there is PLENTY of evidence out there you just cant be lazy and hav to look."
I keep hearing this claim, but no one can provide that evidence. Convenient, is it not? Again, you call others lazy, but you are just as guilty. After all, if it's that easy, then you should be able to provide that evidence. Yet you don't. Is it because you are lazy, or is it because you don't really want to share that evidence with others so you can have God all to yourself? Either way, it's not very loving of you to tell people to believe without giving them a reason.
"wouldnt [Hell] suck it it was true"
Yes, it would. Now, which Hell are you talking about? By your reasoning, I have all the information I need to worship Athena. After all, I don't want to be stuck rolling a stone up a hill in Hades for all eternity. I can take your reasoning and apply to thousands of other religions.
It's a nice try, but you need to read up more. What you have just typed is the quintessential flawed argument for Christianity. You aren't doing anyone any favors here...except for amusing the nonbelievers, that is.

Because god doesn't exist.
Just a few direct responses:
"if you believe in god you know that someone loves you"
You have to believe a fictional being loves you to feel good about yourself? You've got issues.
"if you believe in god you feel a sense of peace"
Really? Believing a fantasy will do that.
"believe and you feel like your not alone"
and apparently you fell like you can ignore the rules of grammer.
"there is PLENTY of evidence out there you just cant be lazy and hav to look"
I've looked, never found any. Perhaps you can share?
Funny question, gave me a good laugh!

1) It's possible to be a moral person without religion or the thought of an afterlife reward. Actually, in my opinion, it's BETTER to be a moral person without religion. (How moral is a person who does the right thing only because he thinks God is impressed?)
2) What do I have to lose? An entire lifetime of devoting my energy and attention to the wrong thing if Christianity turns out to be untrue. And there are other religions, too. Thousands of them. Why aren't you worried about any of them being true instead?
3) It has nothing to do with not "wanting" him to be real or not. Actually, I have a couple problems with the Christian interpretation of God, but that doesn't matter. I don't think he exists... period.

Its the idea there is no proof... that and the countless numbers of people that have died in his religions names. (not to mention wouldn't he/she if in existence unify them all) Spanish Inquisition to name one ran the course of what 300 years killed in some est 900000 people to the more moderate range of 450000. mostly women who were tortured and burned look up the instruments they used they were extremely brutal with what they did.
Not to mention the Taiping Rebellion someone said he was a messiah and the brother of Christ raised an army and killed 20 million or more. If god was true what are the odds that he would allow so many to die for someone elses twisted greed. the idea of free will he gave you so had the choice not to get involved with them??
Or the Church protecting child molesters in their own ranks for how many years.
And sciences continually disprove and discover new information everyday pointing towards why things occurred and no mention of god was involved in there explanation.
For millions that starve daily this is h3ll to them what fear do they have of not believing.
what evidence is there he is around a few improbable occurrences not enough i think the idea of god is good don't get me wrong most need something bigger in themselves to believe in. But i really do think organized religion and fanaticism have totally destroyed any idea of faith i could ever have that there is someone up there
