...for him to fix it with a toner?

And if so... he had put blond highlights in my hair... so much that I was a blond instead of a brunette... it was brassy so I wanted him to fix it... he did, charged me, and now it's DAAAARK brown with NO hi-lights. I have given him $61 + $12 for a tip for the hi-lights, $19 + $5 for a tip for the toner, and the week before I gave him $29 + $15 for a tip for a haircut... is he going to charge me to redo highlites AGAIN to (hopefully) fix my hair once and for all?

I got my hair hi-lighted on a Thursday and called on Saturday for an appointment... got in on Wednesday.

LF_Family - I didn't DYE my hair... he put a TONER in it - BIG DIFFERENCE... and no, it was not my idea to go to dark brown. I had no idea it would come out that way... he said he was just taking out the copper tone.

I don't understand one thing - why was your hair dyed all dark just because the highlights came out brassy? Whose idea was that? If it was yours, you should probably cut your losses and get your hair done somewhere else. If it was the stylist's idea, he is just trying to fix his mistake at your expense. Regardless, it sounds like he doesn't know what the heck he's doing with your hair, and has no idea about customer service. The highlights, which you originally paid for, should have been fixed for FREE, plain and simple.

I get my brown hair highlighted blonde so I understand your situation. I've tried many salons who failed to get the color right, and it's simply because they wash the peroxide out too early.

If you go back, and like I said, coloring your hair all dark was HIS idea and not yours, call the salon and explain the situation to the owner. Make it very clear that you have paid this man twice for botched services, and you expect your hair to be done how you want it, and you are not paying another cent. If they don't agree to do it for free, go somewhere else. And stop tipping him! You should never tip for a bad job or a bad correction!

I think you should cut your losses and find someone new.

Any reputable hairstylist would fix something you didn't like and not ask a fee, especially if you came back within a week with complaints. You do have to be honest and say out right that you are unhappy with what they did, and want a correction done. You can't just say you want to change it.

As far as how to find someone who will treat you with more respect, ask friends or other locals who have hairstyles you really like for recommendations. Unless you are in a big metro area in which case there's probably a best of list out there somewhere.

Call the salon and find out if the stylists there are commission or rental. If they are commission, talk to the manager. If they are rental, talk to the owner. I work in California and we are required to carry insurance for law suites. If you aren't getting the results you want with that guy, go above him. Someone will take care of you.
Next time, take in pictures! This will really help the stylist and also give you a leg to stand on when your stylist wants to charge you for what you wanted before.

Sounds like you need a new stylist!

NO. I have had plenty of bad haircuts, coloring jobs, whatever.... I do not pay and I certainly don't let the person that screwed it up try to fix it.

I go somewhere else.

Since you already paid him, I would call the owner and explain the situation.

Never leave the salon unhappy and DON'T TIP if it's that bad, you really don't have much of an argument if you tip, unless you left while your hair was still wet

GOOD LUCK!

He shouldn't charge you if he did a bad job and it didn't come out the right color. Sounds like he's not the best at what he does, so I suggest having another person at the same salon (if it's a different salon they'll probably charge you) like the manager, doing it. Good luck!

Absoultey not. You should not have had to pay for this service , it was a colour correction from his mistake. And it sounds like you let him know right away , if you waited over a week then there would be a question mark on that .

As a hair stylist his number one priority is to satisfy his customers. He should re-do your hair at no charge. If not then I would never go to him again. Good luck!!

I guess it might depend...

Did the hairdresser do a BAD job, or did it just not come out quite the way you expected it to? Are/were your expectations reasonable with what you have/had to work with?

it depends i mean you can talk to him very calmly and explain that it's not the look that you were going for... also explain that you have spent a lot of money with him and you like how he does your hair and would like to continue to spend money with him... good luck

find yourself another hairdresser, it sounds like his not really listening to the clients needs,or maybe he just isn't a good hairdresser after all...you must keep your clients happy or they won't come back.... move on..........
