I use cool whip instead of sour cream, it is a matter of choice and preference. Also, its yummy, I love the lighter sweet taste.

I wouldn't use cool whip and sour cream interchangeably... for that I would substitute plain unflavored yogurt. Has the same texture and sour taste. But if a recipe is still good with a lighter, sweeter taste, then I say go for it and try the cool whip! =0)

I dont think you can use cool whip and sour cream interchangeably. They have different tastes and textures (depending on the brand/fat content of the sour cream)
