I think that the idea of being directly tested by God is something like what major Trauma victims go through, like combat veterans. The general reaction is a complete breakdown of the old notions and ideas of what God and religion was all about at home.
It just does not make sense when the guy next to you is killed but you are not even scratched. It makes no sense because in part, you know the guy next to you was no worse than you, and in some ways better than you are, but why then did you survive and he or she died?
This is call survival guilt. There are a dozen and more symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD.
The point of this is that the little notions of religion, God and life in general that you are taught or given in your childhood are suddenly destroyed completely and then your sense of what life is fails to make sense. Why is guy next to you shot in the head? Why not you?
No, we are not directly tested by God in a personal way, unless this means that life tests most of us once or twice in a life time by virtue of being around when things happen, like war. But what kind of test is combat?
If life is another name for God, then OK, life tests us, but many fail the test and use alcohol or drugs to manage the pain, and we die young and just fail the test. What then?

Yes God tests. God already new that Job could cut it. He won't give to a person what they can't handle . See God new Job. He knew that Job worshiped Him because He loved Him and it was real love. It had nothing to do with jobs blessings such as wealth and health,or even his kids. Job could lose everything, and not turn his back on God. That's real love. I am sure God cryed. Real love independent of what we are given by God is something else. Thats real. I look forward to meeting Job 1 day.

I believe that God tests us. It is said that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and that is true. God puts us through tests and trials to strengthen us in our life and our walk with God. It helps our faith to grow to know that God is there and he watching us to protect us. It is the refiners fire. The more trials we go through we come out stronger and more pure in God's eyes. The bible states that he will never give us more than what we can carry. So he will not give you something that you can't handle or that he knows that you will not make it through. Job was put through trials and he made it through his trials and he stood by God and held his faith. When his trials where through God returned everything that Job had lost through his trials by 10 fold. We are rewarded when we make it through our trials. You have to learn to be able to grow up and succeed in life. If there were no lessons in life we would not be very mature or have much common sense.
There is a reason for everything that God puts us through but it all happens in God's timing and he reveal his will when it is time.

No, I don't believe that God needs to prove that we love him like he did then. God used Job to show Satan that Job would be faithful to God even if things were torn from him, family, possessions, health, everything except God. God no longer needs to prove anything to the Fallen Lucifer.

Awesome question. I think that God does test us and thats a good way to treat all situations. The book of Job is one of my favorites because it teaches us so many things. No matter what situation we are in we have to reamin faithful and reverant towards God.
Great question!@

I believe that, if you are a born again believer in Jesus Christ, there is nothing that comes into your life that God does not know about, that He will not use to perfect you. That is because the bible says not to consider it strange when "firey trials" come our way, that these trials produce perseverence, character and hope. The bible also tells us that God prunes those "branches" that are not producing fruit...so in that same way, He wants to prune off of us things that are not bringing glory to Him in our daily lives. And pruning...ow...it can hurt!
There is also a verse about God wanting to make us into the image of His son. And of course the example of God testing Abraham, instructed him to sacrifice Isaac, to see if Abraham would trust God's promise about a nation coming from his son.
So yes....I do. But never in a way other than to make us more of what He would want us to be, to serve Him.

Anytime Satan puts his hooks into any one, as he did Job, they should stand against him and for God, just as Job did. Job 19:25,26; There will be a time when there is no Satan.

Yes because God knows you could do or take what ever he sends your way, but he wants you to show him if you could take what he sends you. With God buy you side you'll go threw everything fine.

Yes, I believe so, just to SEE our faith, then if we fail, that's an eye opener and we get revelation....We say we have faith, we believe that He'll supply all our needs, but when the test comes do we????
