No sad to say I was once a Christian. And when I was I studied the bible in depth using tools to take words back to the original language! I even had some people telling me at 18 that I should be a preacher.
I did consider it after all my grandfather was a pastor in a church. However I felt as if that wasn't quite for me.
Now as for this YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE UNLESS YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN idea. Let me enlighten you on something my brain is just as sharp if not sharper as a Satanist as it ever was when I was a Christian! I didn't lose my ability to think, reason, or translate words back to their original language just because I realized the bible is a steaming pile of cow dung!
What that statement show is the true FEAR Christians have of those that actually think for themself! You fear it because you are wish you could question the belief structure but you know to do that is to risk pissing off your pathetic insecure little God!

The first difference between myself and a Christian is the fact that I am an individual.. Not a brainwashed clone who was probably spoon fed on useless out-dated mumbo jumbo called scripture..Secondly, I am without doubt, more of a Spiritual person than any Christian I have ever met or likely to meet...Lastly I don't have to peddle my religion/beliefs at peoples doors, nor try to convert everyone I meet.. I am of The Earth Mother Religion and people are leaving mainstream religion by the droves daily to be apart of the oldest Religion known to man on the Planet.. We will still be here Honouring the Goddess and the Earth Mother when Christianity and the other false Religions on Earth are nothing but ancient history.. Tick, Tock your time is nearly up... OK, explain to me this then. Why was the bible not written until 1400 yrs after the death of Jesus. If the bible is the "infallible" word of god, why was it written by fallible man? If it was written by god, it would not be filled with text that contradicts other texts. Did you exist in the time of Christ to know that everything in the bible is FACT.
Religion is just an opinion and an interpretation of someone else's beliefs. Religion continues to perpetuate and justify hate, murder and other mistreatment of our fellow man.
Is there anywhere else in your life that you would WILLINGLY and BLINDLY follow what someone says to do, or else I will kill you? If I'm going to damn someone to hell its because they are an A$$hole, not because "god" told me it was OK to do it!!
Why would the god you believe in tell you to give up ALL things hear and you'll have riches beyond your belief in heaven.
Where do you perceive your god to exist? Is he in a heaven that you believe in sitting on some throne waiting to welcome you with open arms? or does he exist someplace else?
Do you have proof that Jesus father (God according to christians) pulled him aside one day and said "Look I want you to die for these people?"
Do you believe that ALL parts of the bible apply to christians or just the new testament and the old testament is only for the Jews?
Aren't we all (religious, spiritual and non-religious) in all reality JUST ARGUING OVER A NAME?
The bible (and other religious texts) are just spiritual guidebooks for those who feel they need something "solid" in their lives. Religion is all based on opinion. Opinions are neither right nor wrong they just are. God(Jehovah, Yahweh, Creator of Life..etc, etc, etc) DID NOT create the separation in religion. Man did!!!
Before you start spouting off about the things your THINK you know, thoroughly UNDERSTAND what you are talking about. It is more important to be right with yourself and your beliefs what ever they may be before your start brow beating others because they don't believe like you. Isn't pride and boastfulness a sin according to your religious text. Oh wait a minute...you have PERMISSION to bash and judge others, without having to turn that same accusing finger on yourself.
