I have a hard time exercising because my joints are so awful. They're not painful or anything, but they always pop and crack whenever I exercise! It's mostly in my hips and knees. Is this normal? I'm only 21! It bothers me. What can I do about it?

I wonder, if your joints are not painful, why do you have a hard time exercising? I am in my mid 20's, and I have bad joints as well, but they do hurt. They pop and crack constantly, and it feels sort of like my bones are grinding against sand when I move them, along with random shooting sensations and throbbing, and swelling. Arthritis, of course, it's something I've had since I was a small child.

If you just want to try something by yourself that can help, I find that regular swimming and yoga are both great at relieving and preventing joint pain. Warm baths are also nice, and some over the counter rubs, like Icy Hot, are helpful for mild pain. Ibuprophen (advil, for example) is always good at reducing inflammation around joints, which reduces any pain. 400-600 mg is sufficient once or twice a day.

Some people suggest Glucosamine with Condroiton, which are supplements, but these increase cholesterol so I wouldn't recommend them.

I've heard that eating 9 -gold- raisens soaked in gin for 2 weeks, every day, can help, but I've not tried it. Could just be a myth.

All of that said, see a doctor. You never know when something might be more than what it seems. He'd be able to diagnose your problem and let you know what you can do to relieve the problems. Good luck.

Glucosamine with Condroitin, Acetyl L Carnatine with Alpha Lipoic Acid and an occasional Aleve (not too much because it's toxic to the liver). The first two are specifically for joints and the next pair are anti-oxidants that work as a team. Aleve reduces swelling. Hope this helps.

maybe you should check if you have any vitamin deficencies like potassium. it may not seem like a lot but it can help tremendously. I am also 21 and my joints do the same and usually if i eat a banana or some fruit I feel a lot better - but I also eat fast food a lot and do not really feed myself healthy foods as often as I should. I also have hypothyroidisim and that affects a lot of different systems of the body. If you have never been tested for it, which is a simple blood test (15 min) then I would see about it.

Same thing happens to my knees and elbows sometimes. I think the best thing to do would be going to physical therapy, and getting a lot of calcium. That would help to make the bones stronger.

I would see a doctor. Maybe you need a MRI or need to get scoped to make sure the structure of your joints are stable.

That just means you need to strengthen your bones.....and you should start taking calcium supplements, and also tell your doctor about your joints and if you have any soreness, because you could have an illness going on.
