Mormons (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) was founded by American Joseph Smith in the 1800's. Smith claimed that God spoke to him and gave him golden tablets containing the Book of Mormon which followers believe is the word of God in addition to the Bible. Because of their unusual beliefs, members of the Mormon church were persecuted and eventually driven out of Illinois after Joseph Smith was lynched by an angry crowd. They headed west with their new leader Brigham Young and settled in what's now Utah. The church is headquartered there.

You don't have to be born a Mormon to be one.

They're not necessarily vegetarians. In other words, it's not a rule of the church. They are encouraged not to smoke, drink alcohol, coffee or other caffeinated drinks, but they can eat meat. Seventh Day Adventists are vegans or vegetarians.

I converted to the church when I was 16. I am Mormon and I eat meat I have met Mormons who are vegetarians, it is really their own personal choice.
Mormon is just a nicknae for a member of the LDS church.
What do we do? Well my life is pretty normal. I am a stay at home Mother of a four month old, I also babysit another infant as my "job". My husband works for Fed-ex. During the week we live our lives like any other person would we work, eat dinner, watch TV, go to the mall, do groceries. The only thing that really makes us Mormon is the fact that we read the book of mormon and the bible everyday, we pray everyday. Momday is family home evening where we have a family lesson and activity together. Sometimes we have the missionaries in our home, or other memebers. Our church has certian things going on in the week that we may or may not attend. Then basically Sunday is church. Get up get dressed go to church partake of the scrament, sing songs, listen to people give talks. Then the second hour my calling is a primary teacher so I go to primary and sit with my class and we sing songs and have a group lesson. Then for the third hour I teach them about Jesus Christ. Then church is normally over, unless we have linger longer where everyone brings a pot luck and we all eat in the gym.

Also we do not drink coffee, or caffeinated tea. We do not drink alcohol or smoke, or take recreational drugs. We follow Jesus' teachings, ten commandments, we have a modern day prophet.

Mormonism (or The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) is based on the premise that a man named Joseph Smith in the 1800's was told by angels about golden plates containing scripture about Jesus and the American Indians. This is "The Book of Mormon".
You can be a convert to Mormonism by being baptised after lessons from missionaries. Not all Mormons are vegan, but they are health conscious. Tea, coffee and tobacco are frowned upon.

There are more converts than those born into the church, from what I understand.

Some Mormons are vegetarians, some are probably vegan.

Mormons are members of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. We are Christians, who believe in living prophets, continuing revelation, and extra-Biblical scriptures.

One can carefully study the doctrines and theologies of the Mormon beliefs (see sources below), and can then form their own conclusions. I see no issue with someone objectively stating their opinions if they are based on a rational analysis of the issues. I have found the non-Christian religions, such as Mormonism, to be philosophically indefensible, being internally incoherent or undermining human reason and experience.

Go to www.lds.org. The Church has posted answers to just about any question you can imagine, including the ones you ask here....except the one, perhaps, about being vegan. Some are, but that is by their own choice.

Mormons follow Joseph Smith, who they believe was a prophet, and a book called the book of mormon. They believe in a Jesus that is not the biblical Jesus. The Jesus they believe in is the spirit brother of Lucifer (satan). Also, they believe "as man is, God once was", that, if you follow a certain prescribed set of tasks and obey certain traditions and do certain things, you will attain a higher level of "exultation" and will have your own planet to rule someday.

They are wonderful people, very family oriented, kind and loving.....and very, very misled.

The Mormon religion is a cult based on the teachings of Joseph Smith. They don't believe in the deity of Christ, and they deny the trinity, both of which accounts for most of their errors in doctrine.
