are ther still a lot of religious sects in the us US,follwowers of people who proclaim they have been sent by christ to save the world.people like david koresh.or followers who all died in the james town massacre,if so .has the government any way of keeping track on them before things get out of hand

The government can't step in unless laws are being broken. Unfortunately, by the time they realize it, it's usually too late, and thus we have incidences like Waco. This is the price we pay for religious freedom. If anyone says this price is too high, and we should just give up on that freedom, I'm going to bean them in the head with my pentacle! And , no, I 'm not a silly, selfish, satanist.

I think you may be confusing the word "sect" with the word "cult". Google both followed by the word "dictionary" for sources of definitions.
