I currently go to a family practica doctor, and he has prescribed me meds that are not good for me... I also go to a counselor, neurologist and dietician. I was just wondering about the type of doctor recommended for me.

Depending on your health care provider , there are only a few options. I would go with the internal medicine doctor initially. They will be able to give you comprehensive treatment for any bodily problems , after which the internal medicine doctor will probably be able to point you in the direction of a good psychiatrist for your anxiety and a good neurologist for you migraines. Ultimately it all starts with your local internal medicine general practitioner.

Here's a link to the Indiana State Medical Association's "Physician Finder." I would suggest possibility looking for a a specialist in "Internal Medicine" often called an "internist." They have more experience in dealing with chronic diseases. Following up with a mental health specialist is advised for anxiety. A familiy practicitioner is well versed and could help, but you may have a better peace of mind with a specialist.

Be well.

I would choose a family practice physician who is in a group. The different doctors in the group should cover for each other, so you won't be left hanging when your doctor is on vacation or called away. Also, the doctors in a group consult with each other, and you get the benefit of having extra opinions. Family practice doctors will send you to a specialist if the need arises.

Most Americans have high blood pressure and anxiety. Not to be light about the situation, but all physicans are trained to handle these ordinary problems. It would be beneficial to you if you found a doctor who is aged somewhat and could be possibly taking blood pressure medicine himself. This would only benefit you because he would have done research on the best HBP medicine to take for himself and be prescribing the same for his patients. Specialists are not needed unless you regular physician refers you! Good luck! This is NOT medical advice, only and opinion. Thanks!

Start with a regular Family Practice doctor...If you don't know which one ask around to people you work with or check your insurance policy to see who is accepted....If the anxiety is severe you may need to see a mental health professional for an actual diagnosis to be properly medicated...But starting at a family doctor is your best bet...If need be they will give you a referral....Good luck..Hope you feel better soon...
