I got my contacts at eleven, and I have had them for a few years now. I have heard of people getting them at as early as age 9.
There is no age limit on contacts, but many people get them after their teens, because, during puberty, some peoples eyes may change.
Children normally get them if they want them, and with a parent's okay. The main concern is the care of the contacts. You need to be able to get them in and out by yourself, and you need to get the iron build up off of them.
As you are probably aware of, they have different kinds of contacts, so age varies (i.e. "tinted" contacts, overnight contacts, etc. etc.)
I hope that this helps, and if needed, good luck!

Old enough to properly care for them. If you're not careful with them you can get NASTY eye infections leading to blindess. I've heard of kids as young as 10 getting them, but then again, my friend in high school was 17 and got an eye infection because she kept sleeping in her contacts. I started wearing them when I was about 15.

Talk to your eye doctor and he/she'll let you know everything that goes into wearing them. I'd tell you, but it really depends on what kind you need.
