You've burned lots of calories in your work-out. Give your body what it needs right away, some carbs (wholegrain snack). Later, have a good source of lean protein, as your muscles are going to start to rebuild. You damage them slightly in a work-out, and it's the regrowing that causes the increase. Most of this occurs during rest (sleep).

Can you eat a combination, like some peanut butter on whole grain bread? After working out, your muscles are ready and needy for complex carbohydrates to help restore their energy. So the whole grain is a great idea. It would be good, though, to add some protein like low-fat cheese, fat free yogurt, some healthy nuts like almonds or walnuts. You can alternate the type of snack; eat some fruit to provide the complex carbs, the next time have a protein snack with some carbs thrown in. Drink plenty of water too. Congrats on working hard to get healthier (and more shapely). :)
