You just go to them let them know your intentions to marry their daughter, and you''d like their blessing. Once you get over the nerve issue than it will be smooth sailing!! Maybe start the conversation by telling a tasteful, and appropriate joke to ease your nerves and than just slip right into I want to merry your daughter!
Good luck I know its nerve racking, but try to relax... Whatever opinion they had of you when you where first introduced has not changed the way she feels about you! Her opinion is the only one that matters.
My mom did nothing but give my husband a hard time, and two grandchildren latter, they have reached an understanding... I love him, and he loves me no mater what she says or attempts to do next can't brake us!
well anyway good luck with everything!!

He needs to talk to your mother and father alone. He just needs to tell them how much he loves you and what his plans are for your future together. And that he will do everything in his power to make sure that you are the happiest woman in the world no matter what it takes and that he would never do anything to hurt you. Then he needs to say that he would like to ask you to marry him and out of respect for your parents he is seeking their blessing.

I just recently got engaged and my fiance asked me and only me. We told my parents as soon as it happened, but I am an adult and am trusted to make good decisions for myself. I find it archaic to ask for a woman's hand in marriage. Women are not property, they are people who are allowed to make their own choices

Why would you ever ask that?
I would NEVER let my happiness depend on someone else.
