I was talking to this non-religious girl and she said "Are you a Christian?" and I said "Why yes I am" and she said "You look like it" so I said "Thank you" and she said "Oh no, that's not a compliment, it isn't good to be a Christian, because then people like me will make fun of you" and I said "Well then I will pray for all of you who dare mock me because I have Jesus on my side, and I fear for all who stand in His way" so she says "Yeah whatever, I hate you, all this Heaven and Hell stuff is bogus, I don't believe in it AT ALL!" and I said "You know the best part of Hell, and this will be the only time you ever hear best and Hell in the same sentence?" she said "What" so I said "You don't have to believe in it to go there!" So I ask this to all you Christians, would you support me in that battle, and do you agree with that last statement, and people who don't know God as a close and personal friend, does that mean anything to you at all?

why do some of you believe that this didn't happen, and I pray for you all who mock me.

It is sad that you would think that God doesn't realize that you pretend to worship him to stay out of hell, and isn't noticing that you re-enact stupid conversations on YA to make yourself seem important.
A being who would send people to hell for not believing in something they truly do not see, is unworthy of worship. In fact, a supreme being would have no use for worship at all, but might be really disgusted by it, especially coming from people who thought they would go to hell if they didn't. I was raised with Jesus close to me in my life, and I cannot deny that or him, and from knowing him I know that although you live in a reality that includes hell, it is not one that God created. You have done that yourself, and you are free to stop any time you are ready. I would never hate you for it, however, just as Jesus would not hate someone for being mistaken in his views. Open your heart and see.

Did it ever occur to you (and to the other Christians reading this) that Hell wasn't meant to be used as a 'nyah nyah, told you so' excuse to wave at other people?

Also, did it ever occur to you (and to the others) that the act of 'wishing' and 'believing' in Hell (especially for others) can be considered an act of 'judgement', which is something Jesus expressly cautioned his followers against doing?

It is true that you don't have to believe in some place to go there, but it is also true "....that tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before [you]." In other words, just because you have Jesus on your side doesn't, ipso facto, mean the outcome will be as expected. One can lose grace as well as gain it.

I had a friend who doesn't believe in God. Well I'm not a Christian but I believe in all religions God sent for us. I think We shouldn't care these people at all. Because You know When people are afraid of something they behave in this way. And She is just afraid of being in hell and God. That's why She is trying to ignore religions. Just simply don't care She will learn when she gets there.

I am an atheist.

I am saddened by the exchange you had with this non-religious girl. It was inappropriate of her to disrespect your beliefs in the way she did. It was inappropriate for her to tell you that she hated you based on your beliefs, and not your actions.

And....it was also inappropriate of you to tell her that she would be going to hell in that snarky way. Granted, you probably felt emotionally angered by her remarks. However, it was still inappropriate for you to condemn her to hell for her disbeliefs.

It would have been a much better exchange had it gone this way:
She: Are you a christian?
You: Why yes I am
She: Oh, ok. You know it really doesn't matter what you believe in or not, but how you behave.
You: Are you an atheist?
She: Why yes I am
You: Oh, ok. I think it really does matter what you believe, otherwise you would end up in hell
She: Well, you're entitled to your opinion. But someone who thinks I will go to hell cannot be my friend.
You: It's not my opinion. It is in the bible, and it is what god said. I guess we cannot be friends.
She: Goodbye. Let's just agree to leave each other alone.
You: ???

There are people who believe that dinosaur bones are fiction and that the bible is literally true, I find that an impossibility.
People can believe anything they put their minds to believing.
I believe that your question is a true testament to your own belief system and that you believe your right. I hope that you and those who believe as you, realize that there are infinite possibilities and multiple paths to spiritual enlightenment.
We all have our beliefs and we all have different reasons for those beliefs.
Acceptance of what is and the ability to allow others the right to their beliefs is most important.
Disrespect is not kind or advantageous in our society and neither is an attitude of riotousness.
Peace.

While I think the non-christian girl is wrong is saying those words, I think you are equally combative. As far as I know, Christians are supposed to fear god and therefore unable to be a personal friend. If you are not god fearing, you are not a christian.....

(by the way, two of you sounds like teenage girls picking on each other :) )

I think you very narrow minded. I don't think it was right or wrong...she probably thinks you're a Bible thumping nut and pities you for truly feeling that way. I am a Christian, but not your kind. I believe in God and I don't believe God is going punish anyone because of their religion. You're better off worrying about how you live your life, your compassion, honesty and loyalty to others and all living things and not worrying about someones religion. Going to church faithfully is not going to automatically open the pearly gates for you if you're a bonified A--hole in this life. Jesus is watching her just as closely as he is watching you.

God is God no matter what we think of Him. And so is hell real place even if we choose to believe in it.

Do not argue with fools. Remember, we all have free will and God respects their choice. We know that we have the truth. God will take care of the evil. But until then, let's try to love one another and be patient. Our Savior is coming. : )

I'm basically a live and let live kind of person, so no I don't agree with either of you. She was wrong to confront you about the subject without being provoked. I think I would have just let it go. Oh, and shoving hell in people's faces isn't going to win you any converts.
