I have the same problem. I have very picky kids and my husband too, although not as bad as the kids.
Try getting them involved in the planning and preparation of meals. It eases the stuck in a rut feeling and sometimes an interesting variation on a classic results.
For example, I don't make garlic bread to go with our pasta anymore. My 10 year old made a mistake once and we discovered that Italian bread with basil, olive oil and cheese is much tastier.
Letting them make some of the food choices is not always convenient, but I do it at least once a week. Saturday morings we go to the grocery store to do the weeks shopping. The kids come with me and they each get to choose and help prepare one part of dinner that night. Rules are, it must be healthy and everyone has to try it.

Hard to answer this question in just a few words, but to sum up: try a larger variety of spices, and get creative. Most folks season with butter and salt, and when the doctor says to cut those out, they have nothing! Try some curries (many cookbooks out there), Moroccan cooking (look up pastilla / bastilla), Thai and Singaporean for starters. Consider roasting as a healthy way to add a LOT of flavor for almost no extra calories.

I have the same problem with trying something different and folks not liking it. I think that's THEIR problem, not yours. If they don't like what you cook they can cook something else!

Enjoy!

There are lots and lots of great cookbooks. Go to a book store and browse until you find one that "speaks" to you. There are zillions of great ways to make chicken. I love it, too.
