I dont understand it. I mean, I work crappy paying jobs. I dont know what career I want to pursue. I screwed up my life by dropping out of high school, while I could have earned a scholarship in football. I made alot of stupid choices and now I cant get over them. I think of "what could have been". I ask god to give me direction, and I get nothing. Whats the deal?

First of all don't waste any more time thinking about what could have been, it's a good way to waste 20 more years. Move on from where you are, you cannot change yesterday. Secondly, you are correct in asking God for direction, but your concept of God may be a little off. God is not Santa Claus. God's perspective of your life is much more long range. His ultimate goal if for you to know Him personally (John 17:3). If He is working on you, and let's hope that He is, then He will do whatever it takes to get your attention. Sounds like He has it. Focus on getting to know Him. If your goal is to please yourself, then you are heading in the wrong direction(Matthew 6:33). As a loving Father, He cares for those He chooses enough to not give them what they want but what they need. Once you surrender to Him and put Him in charge of your life, things will change; but maybe not how you would expect. The first thing that will change will be your perspective on life.

because some of our dreams aren't happy for other people. Like the dreams of pedophiles and rapists, jealous spouses who want to poison the other person. Did you ask God for direction while you were dropping out of school? Do you only pray when you need something from Him? Do you give thanks for each morning that you wake up and for each breath you take and for a nice stranger that help you in a little way one day? Do you pray for others' needs? If you are selfish and needy, He is ignore you. He will give you want you need and not what you want. He will give you want you deserve. Whether you agree with Him or not.

READ THIS!!

The thing is...you made some choices in your life, that you are not proud of. I understand because I'm kinda in that position too. But God isn't gonna come to our doorsteps and say, "do this, do that. Here's the job you've always wanted."

He already knows what we have need of, and He tells us in Matthew that He will supply all of our needs according to His riches and glory. So why don't we get what we need sometimes?
Maybe we think we know what we need, but God knows more. He knows our thoughts afar off. Like we may think we need to buy more clothes to fit us, but He knows that we really need to buy the right foods to eat. So he blesses us with a bunch of groceries.

Don't keep looking into the past about "what could have been." Look at the "here and now." What can you do NOW to change your life. Maybe it's not the job you need, maybe we need to seek Him and His righteousness, or delight ourselves in the Lord.
He knows what you want, He knows what you need, and He's not silent on any of our issues.
He wants us to be content in whatever state we're in. Rich or poor, job or jobless. (Philippians 4)

After all, the Bible does say,
"Seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you."
"Delight yourself in the Lord and He WILL give you the desires of your heart."

God doesn't bless unrighteousness...so make sure you are right with Him. Sincerely repent and ask forgiveness of your sins (whether you're a Christian or non-Christian).
The answers will come...I guarantee it.
God Bless

God's goal is not for everyone to be happy. Hitler was happy when he was conquering the world and achieving his dreams.

God blessed you by planting you in the land of opportunity. Don't give up yet. His plans for us usually look different than our own plans, but they produce more fruit in the end. In the long run, you'll realize His way is better. Here is a hint: He likes to make us wait because it forms character in us and helps us trust Him.

just read this... :)

Since the beginning God created man to his image and likeness and given him authority over everything (land, sea, animals, etc....). and still his lonely and so God gave man a woman to be with him for the rest of his life. He has given everything to men. No need to work for it and pay for anything just one rule. Refrain from eating the fruit of the tree, but the woman deceived by the serpent ate it and the woman gave the man and did the same act. So, God became angry and sent them out of the Garden of Eden. Men has the power to know what's right and wrong.

The answer is:

Man ate the fruit which means he wants to know what right from wrong. That is why we have our free will. We must decide for ourselves, work for it and find our dreams for ourselves because men are always "not contented". Our grandparents says "Nasa Dios and awa nasa tao ang gawa" meaning "Mercy resides in God, Deed are in men."

Stay safe!

I feel you on this one I ask the same question, and get the same result. But if you read the bible. It talks about how we are never given too much to handle. Don't ask me where it is, I don't remember. I stopped reading my bible because of everything in my life that has happened. My friend who is Hindu would tell you it is because of karma and past lives. And so forth and so on. I think it is just plan bad luck. And if you notice the rich get richer and the poorer get poorer. BTW i make 6.80/hr. Crappy wage.

Because God isn't the government. He doesn't run a nanny state with no expectation of personal responsibility or accountability. Haven't you heard that God helps those who help themselves? Take personal responsibility for your own happiness and stop whining that God doesn't hand it to you on a silver platter.
