I want to learn about the opinoins of Christians on the requirements for getting into Heaven. The second question is mostly a rant after the first one. The first one is the main one.
Thanks!

I didn't say he was ashamed of Jesus. even I respect the teachings of Jesus. I said he was ashamed of the things Christians have done.

Just wrote you a book of an answer on the old question # 1, so you have to return to that to see my answer. You already had 32 answers back there before I entered mine. How many more do you want?
Added Material:
I am sorry that you agree with DiesixDie. He did not address Christians, he blames the whole thing on God. I might agree that there are many professing Christians that are really out of whack, but that does not mean that God is.
I am also sorry that you husband is ashamed to be categorized as a Christian, if he is one. Though some major attrocities have been done in the name of Jesus (and in the name of humanism, communism, atheism, buddhism, islam, and every other ism out there), a whole lot of excellent things have been done in the name of Jesus, as well. I am not ashamed of being connected with William WiIlberforce, Abraham Lincoln, C. S. Lewis, Billy Graham, and millions of others who have stood the test of time and revealed the true power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jesus said, "(Luke 9:26 NIV) If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels." You know what, lots of bad things have been done in the name of the United States of America, but I am not ashamed of being called an American. Bottom line is, anyone can claim to be a Christian, but that does not make them one.
I am glad Jesus forgives sins. Since no one can meet the standard for entering heaven (perfection), then all of us need a Savior. But Jesus did not come simply to forgive sins, He came to bring new life. People who claim to be saved and going to heaven, but continue to live as if they were going to hell, probably are going to hell. I know it hurts the heart of God to have His name dragged through the mud by those who claim to be His while living for the Prince of Darkness.

Read John 3 Jesus is telling Nicodemus how to get to heaven. John 3:3 Jesus says, verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he can not see the kingdom of God. 5 Jesus says, Except a man be born of water and of the spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
By faith ye are saved and not by works. It is the gift of God

"Being Saved" or "Born Again" as most traditional Christians believe is wrong. You have endure to the end. That means you have to live right your whole life. Nobody is perfect that is why Jesus died for us so we can repent.
Most people I know have to daily repent.

I thought Jesus laid out the requirements very nicely. Start plucking your eyeballs out, chop off the hands, your tongue, etc. if you want to get in of your own ability.
