what the techer teached my dog first was to sit.first u get a treat that your dog likes and keep the treat in the air and move the treat back and back until your dog sees the treat and sits down. Then when she is seated u give her the treat.
If u want her to stay make sure she is still sitting or u can push her but doen and tell her to stay with the treat in your hand.
Do not give her the treat until she stops moving.Remeber to say stay a few times so she knows what you want her to do.

Ok, I would say first make sure you have a leash and a collar for your dog. Then buy some treats that your dog likes and make sure he is hungry (don't starve him though). I would suggest going into your yard or a place where it's just the 2 of you with no distractions. You can hold the leash by dropping it on the floor and stepping on it. Then hold the treat in one hand above his head and with the other hand you can either 1) push your hand down like your pressing the air or 2) Say sit and move the treat forward and and back, like a rocking motion until he sits (he should get tired, and sit but he will still be focused on the treat) when he sits, give him the treat and say good boy in your squeaky voice (baby voice) and get happy with him 3) You can also show him the treat and then push down on their behind until they sit (repeat the word sit as you push) and then give them the treat when they sit. If they don't sit say nu huh or noo (not a loud no but like a uhh noooo (not the uhh just the noo) Like when your talking to your friends and your like "uhhh nooooooo i dont think so" Your dog wants to please you so they will listen. Don't do it for to long cause they do get bored.

I also taught my dogs how to bark or speak. You sort of do the same but you say bark and you sort of bark the order...barrrkk!! you know?! Of course I got them to bark and then it was like bark bark bark.

The shake command was funny. You start of by saying shake or give me five ( I use this one) and then you grab his foot and shake it, say good boy, and then you put your hand out and say shake and see if he does it then (probably wont he first time) if he doesn't with the other hand you are not putting out take his paw and set it in your extending hand. My dogs have learned this great!! Then they do it without you asking for it they just want to shake all the time.

Fetch they haven't learned yet, they fetch but they don't quite bring it back yet (only halfway) I heard the best way though is feeding them from a freesbee. (then they know its a tray with food and they should go get it) But keep a long leash on them that way you can pull them back when they get it.
Don't buy anything other then the above cause it's all free online, instructions and directions I mean. The key is practice and patience. You'll get there. Good Luck and I love Shiba inu's. I have Huskies.

Start with the most basic, which would be stay, and work on that for a few weeks and once you're sure she has the idea start with the next difficult which would be lay down and then roll over and lastly shake. Make sure you use positive reinforcement like praise and doggie treats! That should do the trick.

Take her to an obedience class. They are just as informative to the owner as the dog, and training is all about what works for the dog, there is no method that works everytime, so unless you, your dog and a trainer are all working together as a team, it is hard to know what approach to use. For example, my dog will do anything for food, so it is easy to train him. Some dogs do better with play as a reward, or just petting, so find a good trainer!

Show her what you want her to do, teach her the command associated with the action and praise and treat her when she gets it .
You should get a book, or video, then you can rewatch it and work on the training step by step. Check out the Clicker training...

i think training is easy but i guess it depends on the amount of time you have to spend working with your dog. teaching them to shake is easy grab her paw and say shake do it several times over and over agian for like 3 minutes give it a break go back do it again and repeat the cycle until she gives you the paw when you tell her shake. to teach them to say speak which makes them bark , everytime you hear them bark say out load SPEAK eventually they pick it up. get the idea? here is a web site on training tips once you get them trained on one thing you will be working on something else good luck

Find a good trainer. Research the trainer and make sure he/she fits with how you want to train.

My favorite book .. Carol Lee Benjamin "Mother Knows Best". Yes, it is about dogs. Simple to read, easy to understand, good training tips.

That's a very basic start for you.

I suggest an obedience class, its great to help teach your dog, but it's also great to teach you as an owner how to handle you dog. Most of all, IT'S FUN!
