Maybe the dog has no motivation, or maybe its a personality trait.
Does it have any toys like ropes or stuffed animals, bones?
I used to have two American staffordshire terriors (or pitbull/mastiff) One had an amazing amount of energy and was constantly into things, while as, her sister is more dosile and calm.
I bought the dogs alot of toys and both dogs were occupied with the company of eachother.
(my energetic dog died this year age of 2 years, and her sister isn't as playful anymore, so we walk her alot and are constantly playing with her)
In other words, I would suggest to walk your dog regularly, buy it different types of toys and bones (to see which ones it is interested in), and maybe even get another dog for it to play with.
Also, if your dog seems to not have alot of energy maybe you should switch puppy foods, one with more carbs.

First off, anytime a dog is being extremely tired you should take it to a vet to have it checked out.
If the vet finds nothing wrong there are a number of possibilities.
If it gets little to no stimilulation, your dog could be depressed. Try taking your dog on a few short, calm walks, making sure to let him sniff around and do as he pleases as research has shown that interaction with the environment is often much more exhausting (and therefore stimulating) for a dog than consistent hiking or jogging. If after a week of walking for 30-60 minutes a day your dog is still laxidasical, you might try switching dog foods. I'm assuming your feeding the recomended amount of food already. If your feeding too much or too little that could also contribute to tiredness. You could also try training your dog. Stimulating his mind might also stimulate his playful side. Check out Karen Pryor's book Don't Shoot the Dog to learn more about training. Also, look at how you interact with your dog. If you are excively over amped in interacting with your dog, your dog could be trying to calm you down. Excitement is very similar to stress, and many dogs will seek to avoid it. In fact, too much excitement, contrary to much popular belief, has been shown to hurt a dog's health. Excited dogs AREN'T happy dogs. And finaly, count yourself lucky if your dog is just relaxed. Relaxed dogs mean satisified dogs, and happy dogs. Dogs who bark excisively, obsess on toys or play are often dogs with out of balance. Although rare, a lazy pit might just be a blessing in disguise.

He is just a puppy and puppies do all of their growing while they're asleep he's at a major growing point and that is probably it. You could also try keeping him active my pitt loves playing and she's 4 but you have play not just sit on the couch and throw the ball. The last i would suggest is cut back on his food not alot just a bit. I have 4 year old blue staff that is my child and if you have any more ?? just ask.

What do you want him to do? Dogs can sleep an average of 18 hours a day.
Explain what you are asking?
