TVs are measured in inches by measuring the screen diagonally. Refrigerators are measured in cubic feet, but the measurement is the total of the fridge and freezer, so you need to know the cubic feet of each of them separately.

For what? There are a lot of things either one can be measured for. Could you be a bit more specific? If it is for power requirements that you are after, they are measured by watts used, and the voltage they are designed to work with, and the amps of current they draw during normal, not start up, operation.
