Then you break the law of God. This goes before and after Jesus.
Wages of sin was death in the Old Testament: Animal sacrifice. And relationship with God.
The New Testament: Jesus is the perfect sacrifice, sin was punished by His death. You need to believe in Him and accept Him as Savior.

Before Jesus in the Old Testament, pretty much the law required restitution, up to and including death. Now, in the New Testament, we are living under a time of grace, which means we can go to Jesus and ask forgiveness (1 John 1:9).
Remember however, liberty is not a license to sin.
Paul said in Romans 6:1 - "What, shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid!"

Nothing has changed for Jews. We have always had 613 commandments. If we break them we must ask forgiveness from the one we've harmed, make amends, demonstrate we won't sin again, and only then can we ask God's forgiveness.
If it is a sin against God we ask and receive God's forgiveness.
Prior to the destruction of the 2nd Temple in the year 70 CE sacrifices were made. When sacrifices could no longer be made in the Temple, they were replaced by prayer. In Hebrew, the word "sacrifice" means "to bring closer" to God. It never meant to give up something valuable.
As I understand it, Christians are no longer required to ask forgiveness, make amends, and demonstrate that they won't sin again. Since Jesus died for them they are no longer held accountable for their own sins.

before Jesus?
there were/are a lot more than 10....and if you break them then you have to seek forgiveness and show repentance
after Jesus?
there are still more than 10 and same thing but now there is a different religion claiming there are only the top 10
and they claim all you have to do is believe in a dead guy as god

On the Old Testament of the Bible, we were given by God through Moses of the Ten Commandments to be followed in order to be save.
However on the New Testament ,more commandments were added by Jesus for us to follow in order to be save and have eternal life in Heaven with God
All of us who do not want to follow those commandments and law of God and the teachings of Jesus inspite of our knowledge about those things to follow and yet refuse to follow them, we will not b e save to have everlasting life in Heaven with God. We will surely go to hell to be punished in heat of the lake of fire forever after the judgment to be done by Jesus on his return to this world.

it would be serious and you would be punished like stealing would mean getting your hand or fingers cut off and commiting adultery or commiting blasphemy was punishable by stoning they still do it this way in the middle east before jesus and after jesus you could repent but it was less serious but still there were those who still used the old way of punishment you wouldn't tell about it to others

Since Jesus came, you pray to Jesus to forgive you. Then you try even harder.
Before Jesus came you had to be baptized and brought into Judaism.
1Cr 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

before and after Jesus, you have sinned and hopefully you are remorseful and ask for forgiveness. If you are forgiven and you don't have any other sins on your soul, you gain the kingdom of God. If you aren't forgiven you go to hell.
