yeah, i know its ilegal. anyways to decrease the chances of getting caught(which is very small in the first place), hypothtically, i i had to download 100 songs (i really dont have that many), is it better to download them all at once or spread them out over a period of time.

dude seriously DON'T download it at once, then you might get into some trouble.......
instead of downloading from limewire why don't you download from this site........
http://www.radioblogdownloader.com/imeem/
when you download it, the songs going to be on a ".flv" format

after you download it, use this program to convert it to ".mp3"
converting the flv to mp3 takes matter of seconds..thats it
heres a link to the converter (this program is free)

Hmm...read all the answers and basically a ton of misconceptions and user errors...

The RIAA really only targets mass uploaders who constantly share files...they might catch a few people who download music but the odds of being caught are near zero with as many people download music everyday from all the P2P networks...and plus they are honestly more worried about movies/videos being shared than music right now...

As for the .flv converting to .mp3 thing...you don't get the full sound quality out of if due to the conversion...so it is really just a waste of time...

As for the viruses...I've used Limewire and multiple other file sharing things for going on 6 years now...and I've only gotten one virus...which was only due to a mis-click trying to click on a file while it was still searching the list...viruses are easily avoided by not clicking on the first thing you see and staying away from .exe files as well as most .mov files...and also having a up to date Anti Virus does wonders...and there are free Anti-Viruses that are better than Norton and McAfee...so the excuse of not being able to afford to pay for updates cannot be applied anymore

Besides the legality of using Limewire and the small probobility of being sued by the recording industry there is the possibility of catching a virus. I used Limewire for 2 years and got 4 viruses and had to replace my hard drive due to one of them. Pay the money and use I Tunes or Napster. I have a feeling you are going to give me a thumbsdown but i'm telling the truth here. Don't use Limewire or any file sharing program.

Don't even worry about it, if your on when they search out IP addresses your caught. It's like speeding you can do it as often or as much as you want as you want but if a cop sees you your gettin stopped. They're mainly looking at college campuses to net large groups of illegal downloaders. If you get caught it's a $3000 fine. <-- don't think your fighting the record companies/RIAA in court either they get unlimited money and resources you gotta eat that 3 grand. Just do what you gotta do, if it happens it happens but you have a greater chance of winning 3 grand in a local lottery than being fined by the riaa

Use a proxy, but that's going to cut your download speeds down to about 1/10th of what you usually get.

Spreading out or clumping up your downloads isn't going to make any difference at all. lmmfao.
