Its a small sensor that tells your computer where you cam is in its rotation. Its used to send timing and spark to info for you coil pack and other things

It is a magnetic hall effect switch that reads notches in the camshaft as it rotates. It allows the computer to monitor what position the camshaft is in relation to the crankshaft, so it can control spark and fuel injector timing.

it what make the powerstroke quit runnig every 10,000 miles just ask any 2000 ford owner i know 5 4 of which keep one on hand for long trips
