Economist Paul Roberts wrote on January 21, 2003, "Will America become a Third World country in 20 years?" In the Christian Science Monitor, December 11, 2003, "But as the US economy shifted toward service jobs, factory jobs have steadily lost-in fact in just the past 39 months, some 2.8 million jobs vanished."

Where are they going? China. India. Mexico. Deep into the Third World. "You Americans have lived an artificially high standard of living for a long time," a man working one our jobs outsourced to India wrote me. "It's time you Americans drop to the poverty levels of the rest of the Third World."

American jobs are offshored, insourced and outsourced at such blinding speed that millions of American citizens stand in unemployment lines every morning while the rest of us go to work, that is, if we still have jobs.

America's middle class is being dismantled by jobs exported to cheap-labor Third World countries. CEOs and corporations that enjoy the luxuries of America's hard won freedom care not a tinker's dam whether you have a job or not-or a living wage. But the American man and woman on the street--the ones with two kids, a mortgage and bills coming out of their ears--stand powerless as their jobs vanish.

Worse, our Congress upped the H-1B visas by another 20,000 again this year. That quota rise spits in the face of thousands of American IT workers standing in unemployment lines. Our Congress gave out nearly one million H-1B visas in the past decade. Congress facilitates outsourcing, insourcing and offshoring! Why complain? You just re-elected most of them back into Congress. Cannon, Kennedy, McCain, Udall, Degette, Pelosi, Allard, Dillon, Kyle, Kolbe, Flake and the list continues.

Paul Hamilton write his story, "You have to work in the Silicone Valley for a while to really understand what it is like to be a white male in the IT business now days. I've worked for the Chinese, Iranians and Indians. I could tell you some horror stories ...HORROR stories! My career went to China, India and the WWW a long time ago though.

"Today, I am a plumber. I started a new career and things are that tough here in California. I was lucky enough to get on with Marina Plumbing which is a huge Corporation that does the plumbing on new construction...think BIG housing subdivisions.

"I look around on the job site and I am the only white male in a sea of Mexicans. Few of these Mexicans speak English. There are usually several boom boxes blaring Maruichi music all day long. The Mexicans OWN ALL THE TRADES! The concrete workers, the framers, the heavy equipment operators, the roofers and even the truck drivers delivering building materials--ALL are Mexicans.

"President Bush is 100 percent off the mark, or he is crazy... or?" "I was the leading channel rep in the Silicone Valley for high end CISCO switches. For a year and a half I have been in IBM's Presidents club before. I wonder what the Germans thought circa 37, 38, 39 when the SS was taking over and doing the dirty work for Hitler? Were the Germans just sitting around wondering what was going on? Were they just sitting there in disbelief? I hear our esteemed President talking about Mexican Amnesty and think about how they have already brought misery to an already dead-broke state and wonder what the hell?"

But there is another ominous skullduggery afoot across this country. It's the importation of illegal aliens by major US companies who thwart Federal Laws in order to 'lose' American workers and then, wholesale, break OSHA standards at will. How? Because illegal aliens will not make a whimper for fear of losing their jobs.

The displacement of American workers proceeds methodically. American corporations sacrifice American workers in the name of profit. Over 200,000 illegal aliens swarm the Colorado job market. They displace Denver pavers, roofers, landscapers, beef processing plants, framers, dry wallers and virtually have taken over all fast food restaurants.

This story repeats millions of times. A recent television news broadcast by one of the big three showed a man who had just made the 'Wall of Unemployment Shame' in his workplace, which included 1,000 fellow employees who had been laid off. Formerly making $22.00 an hour, he's now driving a delivery truck for $11.00 an hour. His wife and children struggle with their new financial reality.

Currently, 15 million illegal aliens commandeer jobs away from American citizens. If they don't steal those jobs, they depress the wages to the point of legalized slavery. We have an estimated one million illegal alien Chinese in this country (Source: March 2005 Forbes Magazine). At the same time, we outsource jobs to China where a billion people can't wait to make 50 cents an hour. Human smugglers bringing illegals into America make $7 billion annually according to the report.

Do they work the jobs Americans won't do? False! If American doctors were paid $5.00 an hour they wouldn't be working those hospital jobs either.

You have to ask yourself if you want illegal immigrant doctors working at minimum wage to perform a by-pass heart surgery on you? Would you like an illegal immigrant lawyer defending you in court for $5.00 an hour? How about a $5.00 an hour illegal immigrant college professor teaching your kids calculus? How about an illegal alien truck driver driving down the road at 70 MPH with 80,000 pounds of steel, no ability to read English and a fifth grade education-from Mexico's educational system?

Meanwhile, profits soar for corporations while the middle class of America plummets into worsening unemployment. Will America drop into Third World conditions as economist Paul Roberts predicts? At the current rate of 4.1 million legal and illegal newcomers imported into the United States annually, it's only a matter of time before, we too, manifest conditions of the Third World. You can't drown the labor market with millions of people and expect to keep your wages high when immigrants will undercut you.

That's why the pay in China or India is less than $10.00 per day. They have 2.4 billion people in those two countries. That's why they live subsistence lives. In time, that reality will manifest itself in America as the middle class vanishes. It's already happening. You need look no further than California as an example of the first Third World State of America.

Call your representative at 1-877-762-8762 and ask if he or she is on the Tom Tancredo Immigration Reform Caucus in the US House of Representatives? If your rep isn't--demand that he join because you are sick and tired of Americans jobs being given away to illegal aliens. You're sick of H-1B and L-1 visas as well as offshoring, insourcing and outsourcing. Make that call today!

So should we give up our middle class so that Illegal immigrants can come here and take the jobs "Americans won't do"?

we shouldn't thank bush, we should impeach bush for not protecting a whole class of people in the united states!

in order for a mother to get welfare, there must not be a man living in the home. Ms. magazine was bankrolled by the CIA. The rockefellers bankrolled feminism in the united states, which caused the problem that Frosty points out. It makes you wonder if there is a hidden agenda or something on the part of the government...possible to crash the dollar, make everybody here poor, redistribute the wealth to third world nations, and eventually make a one world government?

2007-03-28 16:55:38 · update #3

did you people read the details? it explained about outsourcing. This is not about war. i am anti-war, and i hate bush. Its not racist. its about saving our country as we know it and not allowing corporate interests to control our immigration policies.

this is supposed to be a government Of the people, BY the people, FOR the people!!!!

But what do we get??? a government OF the corporations, BY the corporations, FOR the corporations!!!!!!!

so F*CK the illegal immigrants, IT'S EITHER US OR THEM!!

only one sentence was written by an economist, and it is in quotes, cookie.

and this is not some crazy theory, its already happening. hillary can't and won't save us, rudy can't and won't save us, mccain can't and won't save us, obama can't and won't save us.

They keep telling us that deportation is out of the question, or that it is impractical. That is totally untrue. A guest worker program is not needed.

Businesses should be paying legal workers a descent wage. If that means less profit, then that is just how it's got to be. The economic growth that has come over the past few decades to those businesses that hire illegals is due to cheap labor. They shouldn't have broken the law, and they shouldn't have lowered wages for the rest of us by making us compete with illegal aliens.

Us or them? The answer should be obvious. Isn't it sad we really have to ask this question? I'd kick their a.s.s.es out, but I don't matter, I'm a middle class American citizen.

I keep seeing people ask "how do you stop companies from moving their operations to other countries?" The answer is, you don't stop them. What you do is make it very painful to do so. You don't want to pay American wages? You don't want to pay corporate taxes? Fine, but if you want to sell your products and services in America, the most consumer driven society in the world (for now), prepare to get slapped with some MAJOR import tariffs. The companies who have made their fortune from our business-friendly society have the arrogance to double whammy us by moving out of the country to pay third world wages, then sell them back to us as if they were produced at American wages. It's sickening and it could be stopped by using protective tariffs. Our government exists to protect OUR interests. Racist, jingoist? Whatever. It's our prerogative. Americans and our ancestors worked hard to bring us to our enviable standard of living. Calling me a racist doesn't hurt my feelings at all.

And you can bet the people saying that are a bunch of spoiled teenagers and indoctrinated college kids with rich daddies. They've never worked a day in their life. But they'll find out what it's all about soon enough.

This isn't the only reason we are dropping to 3rd world classification. The rise of women who are having children and no father to help support them are also pushing us into this classification. These women get into the government system to help them to support the children that cannot support. Those children will more than likely repeat the process. The number of children being brought up in single parent homes with welfare assistance is rising as fast as the immigration problem.

Stats from a government site:
This week, the National Center for Health Statistics released a report showing that almost 4 in 10 of the 4.5 million babies born in the United States last year were born to unwed mothers. That's the highest rate of out-of-wedlock births on record.

Those births are up among all age groups -- except for females from 10 to 17 years old. The age group reporting the largest jump in out-of-wedlock births is women in their 20s.

Host Scott Simon speaks to Sharon Camp, the president and CEO of the Guttmacher Institute.

The trend, Camp says, is a long-term one: Women are becoming sexually active by the end of their teen years, but they're delaying marriage later and later into their 20s.

And while she notes that some of the births are to unwed couples living together, a number of them are unplanned.

Camp says that "women-headed households are among the poorest of the poor, everywhere in the world." Also, Camp says that while they're likely the sole source of support for their children, "many these women may already have children.

Gee Ross Perot hit it on the head, didn't he!
The whole concept we work under is flawed. The rich have convinced us that if we work for less we can compete with villagers who don't have running water. Our Economy is strongest in the areas where the minimum wages are highest.
Raise the minimum wage to $10.00 an hour and enforce it mercilessly. Make it a felony to employ illegals with mandatory jail time.
The next fallacy is that retail spending somehow helps the economy. If you are buying goods that were imported, it hurts the economy. Compqanies like WALMART are driving us into the third world.

I don't know why anyone would want to claim native status, sooner or lator you'll figure out that you got more in common with Geronimo than with John Wane, just hasn't sunk in yet. Why even hate because chances are you're being played just as much as the guy from Mexico/Iran/China, figuring people are actually starving in third world countries, STARVING, (imagine having no General Assistance or Welfare :(). Bet you a million dollars this guy just came home from either Wal-Mart or Target and just can't put two and two together. It's not his fault because, either way, the only things that are still made in America are probably Marijuana and Beer, drink n smoke up.

The middle class is what runs America, literally...without it...well...welcome Socialism! I am baffled by the recent arrests & jail time given to several border patrol officers who shot & wounded an illegal who was also a drug smuggler. What mystifies me the most is the attitude of our Government and law enforcment!!! Just whose side are they on? Clearly they are not looking out for us....it is frightening and there is no end in sight with this nightmare....

I didn't read the whole thing, but I quite got the idea. The whole thing was written by an Economist. If you are going to trust an Economist, you might as well trust a Gypsy. They both think that they can "predict" the future while year after year, they've been proven wrong. Screw every economist out there, because no matter how much current statistical data you have, there's no 100% accuracy in any future economical predictions.

It is one of the key reasons and 'globalized trade' to reorganize our country and protections to give more wealth to the top 2% is the rest of it. They are bargaining OUR purchasing power for their profit, not our benefit.

To be completely honest, we are 'losing our middle class' to labor unions who increasingly demand higher wages for auto workers who then inturn need to 'outsource' parts supply first to other companies that pay cheaper wages in the US, then to outside countries.

In fact, we outsource most of our jobs because of lack of qualified personel to fill them. Everytime the government steps in to 'fix' a problem, they only make it worse, ie. education, welfare, etc. If the government would stop micromanaging us, then perhaps people would stop whining so much and actually want to better themselves.

This is more a chronicle of personal experience with corporate America than an actual question, but it does contain enough interesting considerations to eMail to fellow high-tech employees. Also verges on the border of SPAM and personal political agenda as your central focus is on illegal immigration as the sole cause of "diminishing returns," and you omit the politicos whom encourage law-breakers as well as other factors important to the conditions listed.
