I am currently dating someone for the 3rd time, I believe, because we didn't really lose feelings for each other over the years. Her parents, however, are unaware of our current situation because they loathe me with such a passion that they bribe their own daughter with lavish gifts to not even talk to me. Also, the 1st time we dated, her parents (dad specifically) threw a lamp and phone at her for not getting rid of me, from what I recall her telling me. I have rather deep feelings for this girl and I want to eventually stop going behind her parents' backs, but what can I do when their daughter has tried to reason with them but failed, and a meeting between the four (or six, including my parents) of us would probably end in a worse scenario for all of us? From what I know, I have a reputation, supposedly, in their eyes and I probably don't dress completely appropriate to suit their standards, but her past boyfriends dressed "normal" and they eventually got annoying to her parents...

No one should have to change the way they dress to please the parents, BUT if you have flitted in and out of their daughters life probably causing distress when the relationship has ended each time, you cannot expect the parents to be happy with their daughter dating you. YOu have to prove to them that you are boyfriend material. Their daughter needs to tell them that she is dating you and that you are trying to do the right thing by everyone and not go behind their backs. Then once they know you need to without losing your temper or raising your voice, speak to the parents and tell them that you want to have a relationship with their daughter and intend to do the right thing by her. Tell them it would be nicer all round if you could start fresh and try and put any past anger behind you. If they wont listen then politely tell them that you are sad that they feel that way and hopefully in time they will change their views on you, but you intend to see their daughter regardless and are not going to hide it from them.

from experience. these kinds of parents are like dictators. it's their way or else and if anyone says different then they get punished. a bf or gf is the kids freedom in a lot of cases and the parents don't want that at ALL. best thing to do is talk to your gf about it. tell her that if her parents dont like it then either move in with each other or start over. she will HATE her parents eventually and it wouldnt surprise me if she stopped bathing and getting really gothic. trying to talk to her parents with yours would lead to "dont tell me how to raise my daughter" or "its not your business" something stupid. do what you want but if her parents keep getting involved dont be surprised if youll break up again. and by the way, STOP getting back together with her omg have some dignity.

Hang in there. May be you should talk to her parents and see why they despise you. They may be acting like that because they are protective over their daughter. you need to find a middle ground with her parents because in the long run it is going to eat her up inside. And that can ruin your relationship 10x more.

Move on this will never be a good situation. Do you really want to marry this girl someday and have to deal with these people for the rest of your life? This will not be good for her either to always be in the middle. In laws can be a big problem in marriages and even break them up. Trust me end it now and avoid future problems.

well, i think you have to realize that her parents only want the best for their daughter....but on the other hand they sound like they wouldn't approve of anyone....So if you guys are young, then i think you'll have to stick to the sneaking around for a while, if you guys are more around the years of 18 then i think you should start preparing to find a place to live...cuz maybe her parents might kick her out if you guys are ready to face them as adults....It's her life not theirs.....they only created it....good luck

what you need to do is stop worrying about them not liking you thats going to happen in some relationships. you can't please every parent. plus your dating her not them, yeah its nice to have your girl's parents like you but if they don't they don't. there' no need to try and work things out with them cause they already have their minds made up about you. don't go to their house.. keep your distance. tell your girl if she wants to see you she either meet you at your house or something like that. avoid her parents seeing you.

im in the same boat. for the mom's birthday, send her flowers. for their anniversary, send them on a dinner with the your gf and other kids. you stay home! do things like that and eventually they'll start to consider you as not so bad and take a liking to you.
