I've had success with an over the counter product called Mederma. It really helped fade the old scar and make it less noticeable. It won't work on keloids though. It fades the red surrounding the scar, but won't take down the built up skin.

Vitamin E oil is a safe natural thing to try and it is not that expensive. I had a really nasty scar on my nose from an accident and I used it three times a day for a month and the scar is hardly noticeable now.

For scar removal I use arnica oil. I get mine as arnica absolute, which is thick and gooie. I get it from the essential oil company: http://www.essentialoil.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=arnica&osCsid=c1725cb69f5fefd595e0918cd88e95af&x=9&y=9
I find that a one gram bottle will last me about a year. I use an unbent paper clip which I dip into the bottle and apply to the scarred area. A thin coat is sufficient when using the oil at this concentration. I have almost totally removed the scars from my laproscopic gall bladder removal, and am working on a gunshot wound, which was quite pronounced.

I have a scar on my eyebrow my chin and my lip from chicken pox because i thought they were pimples at the start and they were so itchy!
lucky for me they aren't very noticeable but good luck with finding something! I personally would just use concealer (you could still use it even if you're a guy)
