Holy Cow!! Yes, yes, yes. An average can of soda is 160 calories. Lets say you drink a six pack of soda per day. That is 960 calories. The average amount of energy a person needs per day is 2000. That means you DRANK almost half your daily allowance!! Also, the calories in soda are empty which means they have no nutritional value.
A pound of fat is about 4000 calories. That means that someone quitting the six pack a day habit could LOSE a pound about every five days, providing they use more energy than they consume.
Soda is bad for you in other ways too, so called diet soda contains no calories, but has been shown to increase your appetite & their artificial sweeteners can turn to poison if exposed to heat. The phosphorus content inherent in fizzy drinks strips your bones of calcium. The constant intake of sugar can lead to diabetes. Stop with the pop! I am only telling you this because I LOVE YOU!

If you look at the amount of sugar one can of soda contains, you'll realize that you can have a reasonable amount of really good stuff and not get half the caloric burden you get from burp juice. The carbonated water also upsets the natural PH balance in your stomach. When your stomach tries to re-establish that balance, it may actually create cravings. Certain sugar substitutes actually make some people irritable and hungry as well, so drinking sugar free soda is not always effective. Explore the wonderful world of fruit uices, green, red, and white teas (the less processing tea gets, the lighter the color it is referred as)

So if you stop drinking soda it would be a positive step towards losing weight, but it also depends on what you replace it with. If you are one of the people that is sensitive to corn syrup, it isn't enough to replace the soda, you have to make sure that what you replace it with does not contain the same ingredients that were in the soda. Steer toward low sugar, simple sugar, and don't just eliminate something from your diet, examine everything that you put inside your body. Most of us are more careful about what we put into our cars than what we put into our stomachs. Check out agave nectar. It is very sweet and is not supposed to raise your glycemic index.

YES!
Regular soda has a lot of calories, but these calories are especially harmful because they are "liquid calories" which do not fill you up like something that is whole food.

Also, research has linked diet sodas with weight GAIN, because they don't fill you up, and might actually make you hungry!

This is not to meantion the other possible health problems, such as decreased calcium absorption, inner ear problems, and heart problems (because of phosphoric acid) in colas. Sodas should be a splurge, not an everyday thing! Good luck!

Absolutely. Each soda has 120-200 calories per can. And juice is even higher in calories. But switch to water. Watch diet soda-it's not good for you. Switch to club soda with lemon or lime. Or maybe sugar free kool-aid or crystal light. But all things in moderation. Good luck!

Yes it will. See fat loss tips below. Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Salt has no calories but makes you fat and burning more calories does not help this fatness.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad fats, water retention and secret trick used by models to flatten their tummy before an event. Reading a book will take you hours but the information on a post, taking minutes to read, is not enough. The webpage below has just enough to know what you need to know. Links page has gov. BMI calculator to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age).

You can force your body to lose weight with not enough calories, but if you continue it, you will starve to death. With an abundance of healthy foods, you lose weight just as fast, but only until you reach your ideal weight. You can continue eating this way the rest of your life and always be at your ideal weight.

not necessarily, but theoretically it will make you healthier, but you wouldnt lose any substantial weght. The weght loss would be based on if you cut on your eating habits, and many other factors such as excercise, and lifestyle. my advice, its a good choice to stope drinking sodas to be healthier, but it wouldnt help you much lose weight.
