I would have to say that most people have their religion chosen for them by their family, but those that change religion to a religion of their choice when they grow older would do so for a variety of reasons, such as convenience (i.e. they go to the local church), they change to their spouses religion, they rebel against their upbringing, and also they feel the spirit and follow the promptings of that spirit.

i know christians believe in christ
jews believe in someone else
muslims believe in someone else
catholics belive in god ,mary, the holy ghost
hopefully through process of elimination you can figure it out. doing a search about the different religions would defintely help

I think that unless someone has made a HUGE impact on your life, most follow the religion that their previous generations followed.
