A voodoo doll is used in the Vodun religion. It is a religion - look it up.

Sticking pins in dolls was once used as a method of cursing an individual by some followers of Vodun in New Orleans; this practice continues occasionally in South America. The practice became closely associated with Voodoo in the public mind through the vehicle of horror movies.

A voo doo doll is a magical tool used in the religion of voo doo, santeria and even by some witches. The doll is made to represent someone who either is desired by or is wanted to leave the life of the magical practitioner. Also, voo doo dolls can be used to send healing energy to the one the doll looks like.

A voo doo doll is I think is a doll that looks like a person. And if you get a needle and poke it at a specific spot that spot on the person will hurt at the same time. I do not really believ it. Though, fun to play with. It is either from African religion or from some religion of Native Americans, or its more possible that it is related to Egyptian religion.

A voo doo doll is a doll that resembles a person you hate and you can put a spell on it so that if you poke the doll with a needle or twist it's arm off the same thing happens to the real person that the doll is made in the image of. I think it's used by voodoists in Africa.

A voodoo doll is a representation of a person who is to be the target of a (usually malicious) spell. The doll must contain some article that was once part of the target or a prized possession thereof (hair, nail clippings, etc.) as part of its makeup. This is linked to the practice of sympathetic magic in the tradition of the syncretic religions of the Caribbean (Voudoun, Santeria and Candomble).
The usual Hollywood depiction of a voodoo doll isn't really how such things are done, though. You can find more and better information than I can give you here by doing a web search on "voudoun" and "sympathetic magic." Also try www.religioustolerance.org for more info on Voudoun.

Voodoo, practiced in Haiti and some other places, "pagan." Voodoo dolls are used to put curses onto people or so they claim. Also in West Africa, where it appears to have been founded. Also called by some other names like Vodou.

go to google.com, search for "Voo Doo". Whatever you do, don't take what people tell you here at face value.
