It seems that he is probably just bored. The Dog trainer that I work with would say that he has too much that he could be doing...Meaning that you should have a toy or two in there. Just to give him something to focus on in the crate. With out it all he can focus on is what is going on outside of the crate.
She always talks about how dogs when they act out like that need to be ignored, otherwise you are basically giving them attention for doing wrong.
She usually suggests to use a spray bottle with water, if water doesn't do it(some dogs don't mind water), use a SMALL amount of Vinegar in it. Spray in the face, it won't hurt them, just don't put in a large amount of Vinegar. That usually works.
OH, and definitely give treats or rewards for going into the crate. But its also been said that you have to put them in the crate starting out more often than is actually needed. Just so they don't associate the crate with you leaving them. Make the Crate something positive. GOOD LUCK!!

He is getting your attention when he barks. Also he is feeling separation anxiety. We have an 8 month Neapolitan Mastiff who went through the same thing and when we crated him that is exactly what he did. We started to ignore it no matter how much it drove us nuts. We put a toy in the crate with ours and it seems to content him and take his mind off things. We also rewarded him with a treat when he would go in the crate with no problems.

He has separation anxiety. I don't have an answer. Cover the crate with a blanket, but he'll probably just pull and tug at the blanket and get it snarled in the wires. Some people say play a radio or some kind of music.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/ompaT
If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.
It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

He has separation anxiety. He thinks you're going to abandon him everytime you leave without him. My dog Molly has the same problem. Whenever my boyfriend or I leave just for a few minutes she throws a fit even if someone is there with her. You will just have to deal with it for now until he learns that you will be back and you aren't going to abandon him. Try bringing treats or toys home for him everytime you leave and see if that won't help. If it doesn't help, you got me!

dog is lonely. Watch the Dog Whisperer and then perhaps read his book too. His theory is really good with dogs we tried it on our own spoiled mutt and now he's a little lamb.
Maybe you dog does not get enough exercise. Boxers need a lot of walking you should take him on at least 2 good walks a day and get him tired then he will not cry.

You could contact a trainer to come evaluate him and try to figure out what is going on and how to fix the problem.

I use a water squirt bottle to squirt my lab in face and it seems to work. Also the dog barkin is like a baby cryin and tells you how much attention is need. Maybe just more time with you is need. HOPEFULLY HES NOT SICK OR SOMETHING. GOOD LUCK!!!
