Have you painted a sealent onto it? try a selant type paint on varnish (clear) or specialised glase which will air dry (as oppose to porceline glase which needs to be fired in a kiln)

You will still need to clean it and if its white, quite a bit. Just use normal mild cleaning products without acetone in them (its rare you'll come accross any anyway). or try those wipes from flash or dettol or whatever

The effect or painting layers of varnish onto the grout (the bit inbetween tiles) will be that the grout looks shinier- and depending on howmany layers you put on, be really shiny. But the fact is if it were matt (opposite to shiny) the dust and dirt in the atmosphere which naturally collects onto any surface, wouldnt be so easy to keep clean and you would be scrubbing alot more to get it cleaned. Although you could try a matt glase/ varnish?

your local hardwear store should have all this stuff, if you are from the uk try BandQ, or tiles r us.

good luck.
