I'm a senior this year waiting for graduation. That could be it, but also everything I want is so far away....I want to get married, graduate med skool, start my own practice, purchase a nice lakehouse, have kids....
I remember when I was 15 tho I wanted to join a fraternity, drink, party, and now that it's here I can't wait till I find my sweetheart and get married....(im saving myself for her btw, kinda proud of that ha)
Why do I desire things in my life that are kinda far away? Can anybody relate?

Yes. i can relate. When i was 12 i remember thinking that it would be cool to be 30. i knew i was going to be 30 in the year 2000 and it seemed SO far away. Well, guess what. Now i am 30 something! ;)
One of the most important things i have ever learned in life is this: enjoy the age you are at this very moment because you will NEVER be this age again. You are going to need to be patient for all that other stuff. Patience is also an invaluable asset in growing up. The older you get, the faster time seems to go. Try to slow yourself down and enjoy the moment. This is so important! One day you may be sitting in your modest lakehouse with your lovely wife and kids. You will have your degree and be practicing and maybe even have some partners and as you sit there on your cushy couch, you may remember when you asked this question on Yahoo Q&A. And you will probably think to yourself, "That seems like only yesterday."
Live life slowly. Enjoy it. Learn its lessons.
Kudos on waiting until marriage! You rock! Best wishes!

I used to relate to what you're talking about. Now I'm older, and I slap my forehead at least twice a week to remind myself how dumb I was. I thought that I was going to do most of the things you've been talking about; however, life went a lot differently, and now I'm having those "I wish I knew then what I know now" episodes. So, here's my advice; take your time, because even though it feels like it's going slow, it's going faster than you think. Take the time to do things right, and always think before you do something you might regret later. (Of course, if logic dictates that you can't have fun, you may wish to ignore it on occasion. Just don't go overboard.)
Trust me, I know how it feels to deal with things that seem far away. But rushing ahead without thinking first will get you little progress, but a lot of trouble. Best of luck.

Waiting makes time pass slower. You wouldn't believe how fast the minutes race by in the morning when I want to just hang out in bed for a little while more. Good luck with the med school thing. Doctors are real babe magnets, and owning a lake house can't hurt. Being a virgin might set you back a bit though. In all fairness to your future wife, I'd re-think that one.

If you sit back and relax, you'll realize that life actually is insanely fast. An average of 75 years??? That's nothing. But you still shouldn't try to rush things. Life is all about learning, and growing, can't do too much of that if you're constantly in a panic about what to do next. So just chillax, things will come together, most likely sooner than later. :)

I know what you mean...and I'm just a sophomore. I have a bf (saving myself too... :-D) and I wish we'd be able to marry and such...I want to be in college...or skip that and get a job and drive and have a family and a nice house...
it's kinda scary actually...so much can change within these years...I'm afraid of it...I don't know if that helps, but I sometimes just stop and think...just stop and not even think...just stop and take a deep breath...then continue to live...until I desire something else that's far away...

Yay for you on saving your self But it will be well worth it in the end.. you will find that once you graduate you wish to be back in school because once you do you are an adult and many people will treat you as one

I will be 60 in a few months. It seems like just last week that I wanted to get a car. It seems that my parents would never get old. Time passes slowly as you experience it. It does not as you look back. Savor each moment.
