Because without imagination, knowledge would stop right there. It would never be expanded on and new discoveries would not happen. Imagination is what makes life so interesting.

Knowledge gives you the proven facts of the life while imagination gives you ideas how to make use of the knowledge in practice. All the software applications you see developing are the imaginations developed on basis of knowledge. Imagination is a creative ability of a person. Knowledge can be acquired but the imagination is the originality of one self.

Well imagination spurs new ideas, in a sense new knowledge. He's saying that sure it's good to be educated, but in the end if that's all we have (previous people's ideas, theories, etc.) then we don't have much. Imagination is the key to seeing things in a new way and thus the key to developing new knowledge, and that is what is important.

You can have all the knowledge in the world but if you do not have an imagination you will never be able to solve problems that have not been asked yet. It is sort of like saying you have to think out of the box if you want to solve the worlds problems.

Imagination is more important than knowledge: It means that a creative mind that can imagine is better than a mind that is just filled with facts.

I suppose it wants to tell us that imagination in every person is unique unlike knowledge, where everyone can learn because it is written in books and can be learned. For example, we all know how to read and write. It's common knowledge, but not all of us have the same story to tell or write, because the story in itself is based on our imagination.

This can be put to practice with legos. Sure, you can follow directions and build a house. But what about dreaming up a bridge that connects houses?
Pulling NEW ideas out of your head is more important than putting old ones in there.

it means that some times imagination helps more than knoledge. for instance if a crazy maniac is going to kill you and is after you you can use your imagination and think hes a nice person walking down the street with a knife. when knoledge says your going to die pray for your life. or if a dog is barking at you feicercly you can try to imagin that you hear a tune in the barking. like a patern in the barking like 1 long bark than 2 shorter barks than 1 long bark again. when knoledge tells you watch out that dog is mad and wants to get at you.
