God is male and female, which is why he made us male and female. Get this, the world was not perfect until God made woman to be with man, then man was complete. God does refer to himself as a mother a few times in the Bible.

God is neither male nor female. How can it be said with certainty?
God... the cluster of all purified souls in the cosmos is but pure energy! As we cannot see our soul... we also cannot see God Almighty! We can feel the presence of our soul within our heart... likewise we can also see and feel the presence of God in his creation.
The beautiful mountains, flowing books, magnificent seaside... untainted beauty of creation we see throughout nature... explicitly expounds the presence of God everywhere. God need not give proof of its existence... all is the creation of God!
Pure energy... can it ever be defined male or female? Anything that exists beyond the capture of the senses... does it have a form. God Almighty which is much beyond the capture of the senses and the mind is above all. It has no form. As expressed in Hinduism... God Almighty is Nirakaar (without a form) by nature.
Seeing from the physical senses point of view... we always try to visualize God to have a form. In reality... all is gaseous formation. The whole cosmos is but gaseous in nature. Broken down to the basic building blocks of the cosmos... every metallic object is gaseous in nature. Every human being is but a cluster of atoms and molecules.
Viewed from the angle of a physicist... nothing exists beyond this gaseous formation. The whole cosmos... all universes, galaxies, milky ways are but a huge cauldron of gas whirling around at massive speeds much beyond the imagination of human beings.
Yet, every object in the cosmos has two facets of life. If we have a male... we also have female! We have day... we also have nights! We have fire... we also have water! Likewise god also has two facets. If god rules at plus hundred... Satan rules at minus hundred! Both are equal in power. Why?
For the simple reason that the total sum of cosmos at any given point of time must always remain zero!
Here we need to remember the difference between God and Satan. God is the owner of positive power of the cosmos. On the contrary Satan is the owner of negative power of the cosmos. The power of both being equal... God always wins the race. Why?
In the cosmic system... everything that is positive in nature is a step higher than those which are negative! In spite of Satan having equal power... the positive power wins the race.
Because of the overlying reasons we accord God both masculine and feminine powers. It is purely up to us human beings to imagine things. We all know that the feminine power of God... the goddess is supportive of God Almighty. What does it matter if god was like a man or a woman! More on god - http://www.godrealized.com/god.html

"Allah" comes from the Arabic word "elah" - (Arabic) means 'a god' or something that is worshipped. This word (elah) can be made plural, as in "aleha" and it can be male or female. "Allah" comes from "elaha" but it brings more clarification and understanding.
Allah = Has no gender (not male and not female)
* "He" is used only out of respect and dignity - not for gender
Allah = Always singular - Never plural
* "We" is used only as the "Royal WE" just as in English for royalty
Allah =Means "The Only One to be Worshipped"
Is "Allah" only for Islam and Muslims?
"Allah" is the same word used by Christian and Jewish Arabs in the Bible, before Islam came.
On page one [1] of Genesis in the Old Testament, we find the word "Allah" seventeen [17] times.
1. He is the one God, Who has no partner.
2. Nothing is like Him. He is the Creator, not created, nor a part of His creation.
3. He is All-Powerful, absolutely Just.
4. There is no other entity in the entire universe worthy of worship besides Him.
5. He is First, Last, and Everlasting; He was when nothing was, and will be when nothing else remains.
6. He is the All-Knowing, and All-Merciful,the Supreme, the Sovereign.
7. It is only He Who is capable of granting life to anything.
8. He sent His Messengers (peace be upon them) to guide all of mankind.
9. He sent Muhammad (pbuh) as the last Prophet and Messenger for all mankind.
10. His book is the Holy Qur'an, the only authentic revealed book in the world that has been kept without change.
11. Allah knows what is in our hearts.

English uses the male term because its customary to say "he" when making a general statement. I believe in the original the word can be used for either gender indicating God is neither.

Although God made mankind in his image, I don't think we can define his sexuality in human terms of male or female.
We usually refer to God as a male because linguistically, we don't have a neutral term that wouldn't be offensive. If we called God "it" that would be insulting because "it" is only good for inanimate objects.
God's sex really isn't important anyway, since we do not interact with God sexually. The sex of God is as irrelevant to humankind as the sex of a sea sponge. (I don't mean that as an insult, just as an observation.) Usually when people try to make the sex of God important, it is to subjugate others to their will, which is something I highly doubt God would appreciate.

God is spirit, being known to be masculine because God is our Father, He is always called Abba by Jesus, He is the Father of Abraham, Father of Jacob, Father of Isaac, etc. And the masculine pronouns are used throughout the Hebrew Bible (Torah) and in the NT. And Jesus is also the Son of God and Catholics believe Him to be the 2nd Divine Person of the Trinity, making Jesus God, thus making God a "He".

Niether. God said " I am " this means much . In short god needs no name. A name is for identification. Does god need to be identified??? Male and female purpose is for multplication. Can god be reproduced???

Does God really have to be either? If God created the world, then wouldn't it make more sense for God to be something else, more all-encompassing? Could God really create something (Man and Woman) without knowing it? Think about it? Could you build a rocket without knowing what a rocket was? So, it would make more sense for God to be some kind of mix or something more all inclusive.
